Thin in the middle, a little thicker around the sides. Finishes thinly sweet and dry - a hop/alcohol combo with light sugar bowl taste. This is not a bad brew, just lacks the complexity of many of the others in this style. No yeast floaties at all. My bottle had the new "Koningshoeven" label instead of La Trappe. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | May 29, 2004 Fresh and fruity aroma comes from a cloudy and golden beer. The flavor is a combination between bitter and sweet with hints of fruits (perhaps orange fruits?) A good beer, although a was a bit disappointed with the palate - is never reaches the cornes of the mouth and it’s too sparkly! blankboy (3261), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Pours a clear bubbly copper colour with an average size off-white head and a little sediment. Aroma of caramel malt, yeast, banana, sugar, spices and alcohol. Fairly well blended flavour of malt, yeast, dark fruit, sugar and alcohol -- though the alcohol is a tad too noticeable in my opinion. I’ve had much better Tripels but it’s still a damn fine beer. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jan 2, 2007 Pours hazy medium amber, creamy off-white head. Aroma is moderatly malty; cookies and hay, lightly hoppy and heavily yeasty; rasins and prunes? Flavor is mainly sweet and lightly bitter with an average finish. Medium to full bodied oily and lively. This would definatly fair better with some ageing. BelgianBeerGal (1328), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Hazy amber/tan colour that had a well balanced aroma of sweetness and spice that carried into the flavour. MrBeachtwig (46), Sandared, Sweden
