Pours a slightly hazed amber brown with a tan head. Nose is the typical Belgian yeast with a touch of sweetness, but seems to be pretty weak. Flavor is smooth with a sweet start. On the end I got a bit of a metallic edge, which I can’t say I appreciated too much. Feel is standard. Typical stuff. It’s definitely drinkable. I consider this more of the type of brew that neither tries to stand out far ahead of the crowd or is too immature to be crap. Smooth and even. It’s a balanced brew. It won’t blow your socks off, but it is even enough to keep you satisfied.

Jan 4, 2009 Too red. Smeels horribly of hard candy and rotten fruit. Way too sweet. Tastes better than smells. So sweet. So rancid.

Dec 31, 2008 Bottle, pours filtered amber with a tall white head. Looks great and smells biscuity with some malt and floral hops. Light alcohol and very malty in the mouth the finish is nice and bitter but not overly. Mouth is crisp with moderate carbonation. Nice tripel.

Dec 28, 2008 Cloudy amber colour when poured. creamy head. Sharp taste with aromas of yeast. Very enjoyable trappist ale. Would do again!

Dec 28, 2008 Updated: Dec 29, 2008From bottle, red wine glas. Konongshoeven is not the best trappist brewery but not the least good either. Creamy nice head, fully lasting with nice sparkling and lively carbonation. Amber orange body. This is a nice tripel, the nose beeing hay, citrus, grape, orange and even more Seville orange. Apple, coriander, honey, hints of green cheese. Spicy and complex. Medium to full body, dry and a bit on the watery side. Inital sweet and bitter taste finishing in a medium sweet, light acidic and light bitter flavor. The only dutch trappist tripel is better then many belgian tripels not really a world wonder but still sexy. Cheers
