Labatt Blue

Appearance is usual clear golden with small head, smells of skunk tones and bitter malts. Light mouth feel with little body. Slight fruit aftertaste with smell, overall quite bland....average commercial beer.

Bottle. Smells fairly fruity, with slight hops. Flavor is slight fruit and hop, though watery and inoffensive. Not totally awful but I’ve never found myself wanting it.

Probably one of the best Canadian beers I have ever had. I have tried it on tap, can, and bottle and have never found a problem with it. I find it to go real well with thick hearty cuts of meat or just for a casual out to the bar for a drink.

Right out of the bottle, though I’ve seen it poured in a glass recently. Labatts is much better after a few other different beers. As the first beer of the night it almost seems vile. Not much aroma, coupled by a light malty sweet taste with a chalky after bite. However, a few beers in and a little warmed up, Labatts seems to compliment the warm, humid, windy night. Feels smooth and refreshing on the palate, with nothing to intrude on the taste buds. All in all, a decent brew to work toward a buzz or as a filler in between quality micro brews.

12 oz. bottle. Very light aromas of malt and grassy hop. Indifferent gold color with a stable white head that left lace bits. Thin to medium bodied. Light to moderate carbonation. Starts with fruit and malt, but not a lot of either. It could be light and crisp and delicate, but it almost completely lacks bitter. Better than Bud? I’d have to try another Bud to find out. Next incarnation; one was enough for this one.

Not a beer that thrills me. First off.............I have to admit that of Canada’s two mega-breweries, I have generally supported Molson. In fact, I’ve only tried three Labatt products, and all of them were only tried once. Blue, John Labatt Classic, and Labatt Copper (you all remember Labatt Copper don’t you? 1995? National campaign which had Copper X and Copper Y and beer drinkers voted which was their favourite? and the winner lasted all of 5 months in beer stores). Anyway, I digress. Blue is supposedly Canada’s beer of choice. The aroma was malty, but dissipated quickly. The colour was a very pale yellow with a slight head. The mouthfeel was very watery suggesting that if you enjoy the flavour, you can probably down these by the case. The flavour was nothing to write home about as it too was watery with only slight malt tones. All in all a forgettable beer.

(Tap) Pours a yellow color with a fizzy white head that is short lasting. Flavor of some light grains and a little bit of malt. Overall rather flavorless and boring.
