Bottle... It looks like cola; smells a lot like cola; tastes every bit as cloyingly sweet and fizzy as cola. Must be cola... diet cola. Hideous!

I blame CapFlu. At the store he told me "Hey that one’s pretty good eh" - it’s not. Has some strange plastic sweetness in the aroma, grassy and moldy as well. The flavor is pure sweetness, with a maple syrup and vanilla taste that’s dominated by a nutrasweet/aspertaine nastyness everywhere.

Bottled. Aroma of cola, toffee and a hint of roastiness. Black, beige head, few lace. Sweet, cola start that soon turns to toffee, hint of licorice and butterscotch. Who buys this stuff? Pilsnerdrinkers that like something ’special’ no and then? Old folkes like Oud Bruin in Holland?

Bottle: Pours a dark brown color, no where near black. The nose is metallic and malty with more of a dark amber malt than porter quality. Lacking the deep darkies. Sweet raison and molasses notes in the flavor and a distinct cheapness in the hop department. Sug!

Bottle. Wow, only 5 ratings? Wow, discontinued, now revived? Wow, WHY?? Starts out tolerable -- fizzy whitish head (though unstable), gray-black body. On second thought, not so appetizing-looking. Minimal chocolate-soapy nose isn’t awful....sickly-sweet saccharine-chocolate candy body is retch-inducing, though, as is the syrupy mouthfeel. Godawful, whoever thought to bring this back should never be allowed to even drink beer again.

Thanks for the beer, pintbypint. The body is black with a hint amber amber highlights. The aroma is light roasted coffee with some chocolate. The taste is sickly sweet oatmeal with some chocolate ceareal. There is also some cucumber to steal a taste from ClarkVV. A bad porter.

I had to pick it up. Couldn’t just leave it undisturbed as it should be...
Vegetable, grain aroma. Yay DMS.Dark brown with light tan fizzy carbonation - looks very much like a cola. Unfortunately the comparison ends there. This is much sweeter than any cola I’ve ever had and thinner also. Extremely unpalatable. Mild chalky roastiness drowning in pea soup with so much sugar added that perhaps you won’t notice it. Abort! Abort! The experiment has gone wrong. The sole reason this gets any points at all is because it’s not completely wretched - but it is darn close. Bottle (labelled simply Labatt Porter).

carbonated soft drink. Carbonation initial hit and then tails off to Syrupy drink and dry syrupy sweet aftertaste. And actual porter. Maybe their best beer. Like malt beverage. Nice colour in glass. Decent bit of porter aroma. Could use something. And less sweetness.
