Commercial Description:
This classic 90/- Scottish ale incorporates pale, crystal and chocolate malts with a small dose of smoked malt. After primary fermentation, we rack the beer into firkins and add French oak infusion spirals. The brew is then matured on the oak prior to tapping. The resulting ale sports a rich ruby color with an assertive oak character yielding hints of vanilla, toffee and smoke. Smooth, yet complex.

Sample at Indiana Microbrewers Festival - Cask from a firkin - Aroma is toffee, butterscotch, vanilla and oak. Pours dark orange with a small head. Flavor matches aroma with the butterscotch taking the lead. Palate is sticky. I’d never had the original to compare and would like full samples of each. Might have to make a trip to Lafayette.
