Commercial Description:
IBU 30 ABV 5.7% Our take on a classic Scottish ale, this beer utilizes pale, crystal and chocolate malts with a dose of smoked malt. The resulting brew is a rich ruby color with distinctive caramel and toffee notes, followed by a subtle smoky finish. Smooth in character, yet complex enough for the seasoned craft beer drinker.

On tap at the brewpub. Aroma is non-existent faint generic malt. Pours a darker amber caramel, with a rim in off-white. Flavor is very, very plain. Not offensive, but not nearly characterful enough. This is plain. Generic malt. Faint, faint smoke and some toasted wheat. A bit of bread and some alcohol. Palate runs a little sweet. Meh. Drinkable, but nothing to get excited about.

Draft sample at LB brewpub. Poured clear brown color with medium creamy off-white head that mostil lasted with good lacing. Medium aroma of roasted smoke malt. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor of malt with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Drinkable brew.

dark amber, whispy head, rich earthy malt aroma, rich malt flavor with just enough hops to ballance and give a touch of lasting bitterness, too bitter for a scotch, but a damn fine brew

lots of lace, thin body, rich dark caramel malt flavor balanced by peaty essence and earthy hops, bitterness toned down to normal range,

smokey earthy aroma with sweet dark caramel, the caramel flavor is thining out a bit and picking up a light tartness, firkins at a summer brewfest may be a bad idea,

From the tap this pours a clear reddish brown with a small tan head that soon becomes a ring around the glass. The aroma is toffee and butterscotch with some white bread toast. Peat smoke emerges in the flavor to complement the malty sweetness nicely. An easygoing, sessionable ale.

On tap at LBC. A deep amber/brown pour without head or lacing. An almost candy aroma without much hops. A toasted malt flavor with a hop kicker in the end. Just a bit over carbonated for me and just a tad thin. A very drinkable beer.

tap - Pours a slightly hazy dark amber with a lingering head that leaves good lacing. The aroma is light malt. It tastes malty as is typical for the style, but also has a nice hops bite to it. There’s a medium body that goes down smoothly and has a dry finish with mild alcohol.
