MatSciGuy (629), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Nov 4, 2009 [Bottle] Pours a clear amber with a quickly dissipating khaki head. Aroma has light hops, caramel, and some lager yeast. Flavor is surprising - a smokiness on the very first sip that I wasn’t expecting, plenty of caramel, mild lager yeast, and mild hops. Not too deep on the flavor complexity, but a very easy drinker. Light to moderate carbonation and a medium mouthfeel. deyholla (507), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Sep 12, 2009 Bottle. Poured a slightly hazy with a medium beige head. A light hoppy aroma that finishes with a bit of a malt kick, perhaps a little caramel. Flavor begins with some piney hops and finishes quietly. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Aug 13, 2009 (Draught) Pours an amber body with a medium creamy beige head. Aroma of mustiness, wet leaves, caramel, and florals. Flavor of grass, florals, citrus, malt, and earth with a bitter finish. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Jul 21, 2009 Double Dry-Hopped Cask
7/18/2009: Tippecanoe Dry-Hopped Common comes out amber-colored with a frothy head from the cask. The aroma reminds me of Simcoe hops and it has a sweet orange flavor with a smoky malt finish. It has a soft calm body. Overall this is definitely an interesting beer with a good play between the underlying brew and the fragrant dry-hopping. I wish that I could have had an entire pint of this beer!
Cask sample(s) at the 14th Annual Indiana Microbrewers Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana. Rating #16 for this beer.
tmoreau (527), Lombard, Illinois, USA Jul 1, 2009 12 oz. gift bottle from Dave T. at DLD from one of the many share tables. Poured into a festival glass an orange amber with an off white, bubbly foam head and clingy curtains of lacing. The aroma was a pleasant combo of grapefruit, orange rind, and a little sweetness, along with a touch of resin. The flavor was less impressive than the aroma but supplied some dryness, caramelly malt, more pine than the nose, and a distinct and consistent hop bitterness. Crisp to the tongue and a little less than medium bodied, but very sessionable. CharlesDarwin (1823), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Dec 30, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. Nice, lightly pungent aroma in Cascade-type hops, gummy and fresh. Pours a copper-gold, with a rim in whitish. Flavor is really solid. A fresh blast of hop flavor in that lightly spice, spruce and orange over a well-bodied, but not too sweet malt back. A balanced, fresh delicate beer. A real solid drink, that’s bright and sprightly with nice character across the board. Very enjoyable. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Sep 1, 2008 on tap-pours a rich off white head that laces and gold/amber color. Aroma is nice northwest hops-grapefruit/lemon zest (cascade? and Amarillo). Taste is nice northwest hops-grapefruit/lemon zest-bitter (cascade? and Amarillo), some medium malt. Dry/bitter finish. Block (363), West Lafayette, Indiana, USA Aug 8, 2008 Nice dark orange color. Little head with hops aroma. Stronger malts than hops in the taste.
