Commercial Description:
A refreshingly light, yet very complex flavor gives this one a very european 'Savoir Faire'. From Lagunitas Brewing: "The style of this one is tough to pinpoint--we rarely brew beers to fit any particular style. Saison is pretty close-- we used Westmalle yeast on a nice light ale, and the result is what we like to call an Uzbeki Raga Ale." Tony at Lagunitas calls this a "pumped-up version of our highly-touted Lagunator."

Note: 2004 edition was 7.7% ABV, 2006 is 6.6%.

Overall, lacking the guts of a BA, but it’s not bad. Beer is a clear pale gold with a small, frothy, white, mostly and quickly diminishing head. The aroma is malty with moderate notes of slightly husky toasted grain, trace candy sugar/caramel; Hoppy with moderate-to-heavy note of herb; Yeasty with moderate notes of dough, light notes of cellar; Miscellaneous notes include moderate spicy alcohol, light coriander. The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic and lightly-to-moderately bitter with a long, lightly acidic, lightly bittersweet finish. Palate alright, but it isn’t quite Belgilurious: the body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.

Funny but I smell artichokes and a bready citrus aroma. Westmalle yeast definitely detectable. Crisp as they state. Good balance sweet/bitter. Sweet finish.

Light, musky and almost sweaty, but refreshing, with some lively acidity, very citric, with some fruity sweet malts, and a decent lingering finish.

Sampled at the world beer festival. Pours orange\golden with a decent sized off-white head. Aroma of citrus, fruit, and sweet malts. Flavor is citrusy, acidic, fruit, sweetness, with a bitter finish. Decent brew.

The aroma had citrus, slight flowers, and malt notes. The beer poured an orange color w/ golden highlights; slight lasting head and very slight lacing. The flavor had oranges, grapefruits, malt notes, and spicey hop textures. The mouthfeel was light and creamy.

Beer Numero Dos was Lagunitas #10. It poured a pale yellow with a thin head. It was crisp and dry with a smack of coriander and banana. The finish was, perhaps, a bit too alcoholic. Still, quite light and refreshing though its not winter and I’m wanting something with a little more umph.

Pours with a three-finger white head that fades slowly, leaving some lace. Nearly clear light amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is faint malt and hop, hint of lemon. Starts almost sweet but the hops are there, finish is clean. $4.99 for a 12 oz bottle from Julio’s Liquors Westborough, Ma.
