Commercial Description:
A refreshingly light, yet very complex flavor gives this one a very european 'Savoir Faire'. From Lagunitas Brewing: "The style of this one is tough to pinpoint--we rarely brew beers to fit any particular style. Saison is pretty close-- we used Westmalle yeast on a nice light ale, and the result is what we like to call an Uzbeki Raga Ale." Tony at Lagunitas calls this a "pumped-up version of our highly-touted Lagunator."

Note: 2004 edition was 7.7% ABV, 2006 is 6.6%.

Bottle. Pours a golden color with a thick white head. Smells of fruit (banana), spices (clove?) and yeast. Tart and floral flavor that is light on the tongue. Crisp taste, thin body, nice finish. Not much in the way of hops, though there is a litthe bit of bitterness towards the end. Complex, yet good.

Apple juice color. Weak nose. Very fruity, dancing palate. Mild hops and bitter. Sharp orange peel taste. Really acidic and fruity. Some yeast, cookie flavors.

22 oz bottle, #10 version (summer 2005): clear yellow gold body with a billowing white, creamy head that leaves a thick film on the top of the body and around the inside of the glass. Honeyed rose petal aroma with spicy orange zest and banana peels mixed around with yeast and coriander. Palate is on the watery side, but has nice doughy flavours and rounded pale malts. Hints of bitterness and yeasty spice make this one nicely balanced, well rounded and tasty.

I dunno. RateBeer labels this a Belgian Ale. Lagunitas says about its style is that "Saison is pretty close." To me, it tastes like an okay American wheat. Nice golden color with a short-lived creamy head, it has a wheat smell with maybe some corriander and some earthy hop scents. The taste is a light malt with some bitter spicing and the slightest touch of crabapple. Dull finish. It works on a hot day like today, but so do less expensive (in Chicagoland) brews.

Number 10, bottled, discovered on recent west coast tour: Another piece of work from Petaluma: saison? belgian golden ale? - nice fruity esters, creamy mouth feel. Delicious.

#10. I had this beer on a hot, humid day and it was great. Spicy sweet, with a good malt flavor. Some fruitiness, but not enough to ruin the taste. I’d rather stick with an IPA in the same stiuation, but this will work just as good.

#10: Golden pour with a foamy white head. Spicy aromas with hints of corriander and herbal hops. A bit thin bodied. Malty dry flavors. Strong for a summer ale, weighing in at 7.7%.

Nice deep golden with a thick white head. Aroma of banana, clove and I may be nuts but I get the slightest whiff of pacific NW hops but I’m probably wrong. Flavor has notes of sweet malt, clove, spices and banana. Pleasantly sweet, a touch of bitterness but not much. Medium body with a smooth texture and lively carbonation. Some lacing left on the glass, ok head retention. Nice refreshing brew.
