Commercial Description:
A refreshingly light, yet very complex flavor gives this one a very european 'Savoir Faire'. From Lagunitas Brewing: "The style of this one is tough to pinpoint--we rarely brew beers to fit any particular style. Saison is pretty close-- we used Westmalle yeast on a nice light ale, and the result is what we like to call an Uzbeki Raga Ale." Tony at Lagunitas calls this a "pumped-up version of our highly-touted Lagunator."

Note: 2004 edition was 7.7% ABV, 2006 is 6.6%.

Sweet grassy aroma. The flavor is sweet, crisp, and grassy. Very drinkable and quite enjoyable.

I like how a 7.7% Belgian Strong has a commerciual description of "a nice light ale". It actually is a fruity, crisp, Saison-esque Belgian Ale. Banana nose, golden body, and a Westmalle feel to it thanks to the yeast strain. Another summer session beer on steroids.

(#10)Nice brass color, with ample peach tint. smell is fresh yeast, summer dew, & light lemon. Head begins a thick whitethen retreats to a very thin film. Not a whole lot of taste -- lemon, wheat, coriander. Nice, easy drinking summer ale, no bad tastes -- just easy, fine palalte. Nice lacing left on glass.

Bottle pours a bright clear pale golden yellow with a huge fluffy white head. Very densr and persistant. Aroma is mainly that distinct belgian spice and yeast with some mile light grain notes. Flavors are more of the same. PLenty of pale slightly sweet maltiness and an up front Belgian flavor. Fairly thin, light and a bit dry. Quite soft.

This bottle is labeled as 5.9% ABV; floral/herbal and grassy nose with some lemon and yeast; grainy and sweet, crispy and tart, some light banana, pear, and wheat hints; slightly dry finish, but not bitter; the alcohol, whether 5.9 or 7.7, is barely noticed; interesting and good

Clear gold, nice head. Nose of spicy yeast and light pilsner malts. The flavor is sweet and herbal, not overly complex but not too green as are most US belgians. Finishes creamy, spicy. Nice.

Bottle poured a light amber with a malty spice aroma. Almost no head or lacing. Flavor is malty with a ginger and spice finish. meh.
