Commercial Description:
A refreshingly light, yet very complex flavor gives this one a very european 'Savoir Faire'. From Lagunitas Brewing: "The style of this one is tough to pinpoint--we rarely brew beers to fit any particular style. Saison is pretty close-- we used Westmalle yeast on a nice light ale, and the result is what we like to call an Uzbeki Raga Ale." Tony at Lagunitas calls this a "pumped-up version of our highly-touted Lagunator."

Note: 2004 edition was 7.7% ABV, 2006 is 6.6%.

Doughy, yeast and malt aroma with some lemons and light spices and maybe some wheat. Slighlty hazy golden body with a medium white head. that diminishes quickly. Flavor starts with a light malty sweetness with some spices, probably corriander, leads to some zesty citric lemon flavors. Finishes with a light belgian yeast flavor. Good stuff, better than I expected.

This wasn’t what I was expecting but it was a nice surprise. Pours a hazy golden coliur with a great big frothy head. Good aromas of coliander and citrus and a whole lot of other spices thrown in. Aromas and taste kind of like Aventinus. Very refreshing. Can’t wait for their ’11’

#10 A nice spicy, citrusy hopped aroma, over a golden/orange brew with a nice white head. Taste starts sweet and citrus/malty and ends with a great hop display with a great balanced finish. Great spices carry the whole way through. This brew is so damn tasty with a great smoothness and perfect carbonation.

There is a lot of Belgian influence in this beer, reminiscent of a Saison. It pours a brilliant golden color with a slowly discipating white head. The aroma is a complex mix of spice (cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, etc.) and citrus. Medium bodied with a creamy like texture. Flavors are a broad mix of spice and malt with underlying hints of citrus. One of the heavier summer beers I’ve had but also one of the better one’s.

Belgian wit/Saison malt maybe spiced with coriander (or cilantro in these parts) in a very round and chewy body…Its creative aspect here resides in the fact that crisp, herbal hops mingle with the spicy citrus fruit (pommelo-like) and infuse hefty Czech pilsner qualities to this wheaty blond…An interesting summer crossover ale, not at all what I was expecting, but then again, what good are expectations for?…

Frothy head. Carbonated, clean golden. Malty aroma. Sweet, and flat. Nothing particularly special, not terrible either.

Mostly clear and deep yellow-gold; foamy, big-bubbled head. Chewy and soft texture with a full-bodied carbonation. Sweet malts (honey, sugared milk, cereal, caramelized plantain) and aromatic hops (spicy, flowery, herbal). Some bitterness pops up in the aftertaste, but it’s not much; kind of drying though. Overall, it’s a pretty good beer that’s a pleasure to drink.

[draught] I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what style this sucker was when I tried it - it’s unique indeed - the best way to describe the flavor would be some kind of pumped-up combination of a saison, american wheat and belgian strong ale - quite thick for any of these styles, but good - grainy, with hints of light fruits (grapes, skins and all) - citrus, cloves - quite good, but a little too heavy in comparison to the light flavors it offers.
