Commercial Description:
A refreshingly light, yet very complex flavor gives this one a very european 'Savoir Faire'. From Lagunitas Brewing: "The style of this one is tough to pinpoint--we rarely brew beers to fit any particular style. Saison is pretty close-- we used Westmalle yeast on a nice light ale, and the result is what we like to call an Uzbeki Raga Ale." Tony at Lagunitas calls this a "pumped-up version of our highly-touted Lagunator."

Note: 2004 edition was 7.7% ABV, 2006 is 6.6%.

Bottle...very light color, like hay and just a little cloudy. nice big white head with big bubbles does die down fairly fast. light hop aroma, slight citrus. very light and crisp flavor that is quite enjoyable. a little malt sweetness with a touch of hop crispness. very easy to drink.

22 oz bottle. Poured a clear golden color. Head was foamy and white with good retention and lacing. Smells of subdued citrus, a touch of clove, and some yeasty bread dough. The flavor is similar, but much richer than the aroma and also includes a hint of white wine. Moderately dry on with a crisp citrusy finish and a delicate bitterness on the back of the tongue. Debate all you want about the style, it’s a decent beer no matter how you categorize it.

Bottle. [Enjoyed with thewolf on Plan B] Small frothy head that mostly diminished. Absolutely no lacing to be spotted. Body was clear and flat looking with an orange hue. Aroma was at first impression similar to a Biere De Garde with dusty, barnyard notes. Quickly changed to some fruit, spice, caramel, pepper, bread and hops. Medium bodied with a flat carbonation. Flavor was mostly sweet with a slightly burned bitter finish. Great beer.

Bottle shared with Grovlam at Plan B, Cph. Pours a clear orange with a thin white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma has some american hoppyness, some barn, oranges, yeast and a roasted malty background. Taste is sweet and jumps around on your tongue. It feels more vinious than its 6,6 % tells us. Actually it felt like a ’low-alcohol’ barleywine. Nice!

2006 vintage. Not an overly powerful yeast aroma. Hints of apple. Slightly hazel golden color. Airy large white head. Light sweet malty flavor. Not as creamy as your average belgian, most likely from the lower alcohol level. Disapointed at lagunitas for this one. I’d like to try the 2004 vintage.

In the bomber bottle from Wilbur’s. Pours a hazy deep gold with a thick white head that laces forever. Strong wheaty aroma with esters of banana and clove. Flavor has a strong wheat taste and a big pronounced lemon flavor. I would have sworn that this was an american wheat beer. I’m surprised by the "belgian" category.
