The smell is a mouth-watering bouqet of grapefruit citrus with a slight underlying pine. The very fresh taste is much like the smell and starts out mildly aggressive, but quickly dissipates to a nice crisp, clean finish far less sticky than a DIPA. I hate falling in love with seasonals like this; this would be an awesome beer to drink year-round. CheersMate1 (844), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | May 13, 2009 Nice thin head on top. Nice almost copper/peach/orange color. Good looking American Pale Ale. Awesome citrus/grapefruit aroma that is very pungent and crisp. Nice malt sweet backing to this beer. Very nuanced and complex. Nice subtle hop taste. Subtle bittering hop. Nice smooth sweet flavor. Very good use of malts and hops. A perfect balance if you ask me. Very nice bittering flavor that just lingers. Very good beer. Jeez, this is awesome. Not as smooth as I thought it would be. Overall, just a great crisp grapefruit citrus hop that blows my mind. Very fresh flavor. Very fresh flavor that is refreshing. darbish (81), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 13, 2009 smells of grapefruit, grapes and tangerines with a little spice. is colored a mellow golden orange and pours with no head. flavor is mildly hoppy and tastes of oranges (and according to a family member, a little like earl grey tea). Aside from that the taste is satisfying and the mouthfeel is quite crisp and smooth. this has the consistency of a summer ale, but is heavier in flavor. nimbleprop (941), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 13, 2009 Not a double IPA huh? Well, the hop aroma on this is fantastic. Flowers, pine, candy, citrus fruits, tropical fruits, peaches and other sticky fruits even some cinnamon. Extremely inviting. Flavor is good, but not nearly as good as the nose. There’s a slightly metallic twinge along with tropical fruits, sticky fruits, flowers, lemons, oranges, solid malt backbone with grains, bread, crackers, and biscuits. Dry finish with some lasting bitterness. Delicious. joekinty (263), rockledge, Florida, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 13, 2009 The label description nails it--a good American Ale. Citrus aroma and citrus flavor, with a great lingering aftertaste. Tried this on a homebrew day and it was almost as good as our own Pale. Another round of hops and this would be an IPA. I’d do it again, for sure. crackedmachine (89), Seattle, Washington, USA

Even better citrus hop flavor, brief grapefruit bitterness. A little sweet. Quite light and drinkable. jazz88 (2239), San Francisco, California, USA
