This arrives from the tap with a half-finger thick, pale white colored head. The beer is almost clear and is a copper-gold color. The aroma has a nice fruity hop note to it that reminds me of tangerine, lychee and apricot all of which contribute to a smooth hop fruit character. No malt character is really noticeable.

There is a touch of sweetness to the flavor, but it has a drying effect overall. There is just enough malt sweetness here to carry the dominant hop notes. A biting clean bitterness is noticeable throughout and it lingers pretty well on the tongue. Also in the lingering finish is a menthol and pine flavored hop note. The fruity hop notes contribute notes of tangerine, grapefruit peel oil and lots of lychee. This has a nice light body to it, even lighter than one would expect in a beer of this strength; this is definitely quite quaffable. Some hot alcohol is sometimes noticeable in the finish and food seems to accentuate this to the point of being peppery. This is actually almost a bit too thin at times, but it is thoroughly serviceable and even pretty enjoyable over all.

Bottle. Pours with a large off-white head over a clear golden body. Very nice lace. Aroma is hoppy with citrus, a bit herbal and light tea and caramel notes. Light hint of fruit from the hops as well. Taste is bitter, with a bit of hay and caramel. Kind of thin feeling for the ABV. Flowery, citrus and light exotic fruit hop flavors that blend well. Lowish residual sugars, dryish, medium to lively bubbles, but a bit thin for the ABV, but fine for the style. Decent, but as far as pale ales go the New DogTown might be better for the style.

only in california is something like this presented as a pale ale... clear gold color with a very very thin lace, incredible hop flower nose, flavor is all hop intensity, late in the boil fruity hop punch that lacks any sort of bitter astringency, fruity and complex hop profile, well done but I for one wouldn’t mind a little malt character to balance this out a bit, but a great ale just the same

From the bottle it poured clear orange-amber with moderate off-white head, settling after about a minute. Hops overwhelm the nose. It smells of heavy citrus notes, caramel, pine cleaner and some alcohol. Flavor is bready and malty with a bit of aspirin bitterness, and just a touch of sweetness and citrus. Nice medium body and the finish lingers a bit. Very delicious and straight forward.

Pours a dark golden color with a pretty thick, creamy, white head. Aroma has a very hoppy with a strong citrus note, very light pine underneath, fresh mint leaf, pineapple sweetness and some sweet maltiness at the tail end. Flavor starts off with orange citrus, a light bitter leafiness, some mild sweet tropical fruit middle and ends with a resin bite. Density is pretty light with a moderate carbonation rate and it leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Overall an interesting story for the beer and it works pretty well but kinda forgettable.

(bottle - 22 oz) Clear orange color with a fizzy white head. Aroma is lightly hopped with a nice note of citrus underneath. Flavor begins with some bitter and dry hops mixing with some light citrus and some very light malts. Finishes clean but with a very bitter and lingering aftertaste.

Bomber bottle. Pours copper, decent head. Nice hop nose, decent body. Needs more alcohol to make me forget the recession or it’s rather underwhelming nature.
