Not a fan of this. Either my taste buds are way off, or this was a bad bottle. I’m willing to re-rate if it was. The beer poured out a medium amber color, clear with a 1" creamy off-white head. Aroma starts out with a ton of cheese, old wet paper and butter. Ugh..not a good thing. After warming up a little, and several long swirls, the pineapple really comes thru. It’s like smelling pineapple juice. Flavor has more buttery cheese, some subtle hoppy bitterness and some toasted malt note. It couldn’t be that old of a bottle to get the cheese charater, so I will be getting another to compare.

Re-Rate: Wow. Much much better. I have no idea what the hell I got with my first bottle, but this one was significantly better. A crisp, well-hopped aroma and palate, very clean with a fantastic showcase of piney and citrusy hops and the wonder they can create. Very glad I picked up an extra bottle. But there are apparently duds out there so be aware!

Pours a clear light golden with thin off white head. Aroma of citrus hops, some pine hops and caramel malts. Similar taste, strong hop finish. Not as complex as I had hoped for, a tad on the thinner side, but very good.

Love the nose on this beer. So hoppy and fresh. Not the sappy, bitter hops. More floral and easy. It’s yummy. Candied delicious hop flavors. Good malt backbone. Good double IPA.

On tap at Capital Ale House - Downtown on 10/20/2009. Fairly clear golden amber body with a medium creamy off-white head. Sweet citrus and resiny hop aroma. Sweet, slightly sticky, citrus and resiny hop flavor with a pale malt background. Medium body with moderately high carbonation.

Pour is golden yellow with a small white head. Nose is citrus, primarily lemon and grapefruit. Also orange and hops. The taste is similar with a bigger sense of hops and sweet bready malt. The palate is thin and enjoyable. A great ipa...I don’t think you can truly call it a double ipa though.
