Commercial Description:
This hoppy sweet amber was the original ale brewed at the first Lagunitas brewery in West Marin. The original, actually, was a fair example of 'Odious Ale-ism'. Sometimes it was wonderful, sometimes it took the enamel off your teeth. Well, we are better brewers now, and it has become a tasty Cal State Fair award winner!

Did this get repackaged as a "copper" ale. Perhaps that is what I had in a glass. Not much going on-- bland, not much hops, uninspired. Too sweet.

Bottle, Brickskeller. Brown toast colored body, dark amber. Nose is pure Lagunitas house yeast... brown sugar, maple, slightly spicy esters with some light burnt bananas. I’m not the biggest fan of their yeast, but this beer is decent enough. Frothy, crispy biscuit and earthy malt flavors, crackers galore.

More brown than amber in appearance, with a medium tan head. Heavy smoked caramel in the aroma, with maybe some toffee accents. Heavily smoked body, very salty as well. Somewhat spicy ending.
