Commercial Description:
This hoppy sweet amber was the original ale brewed at the first Lagunitas brewery in West Marin. The original, actually, was a fair example of 'Odious Ale-ism'. Sometimes it was wonderful, sometimes it took the enamel off your teeth. Well, we are better brewers now, and it has become a tasty Cal State Fair award winner!

Very dark amber color. Actually brown. Aroma is like plums. Again. These Lagunitas beers are very similar to eachother. Sweet palate.

A hazy pale amber beer with a huge light brown head. The aroma is lightly grassy, while the flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel as well as hints of grass and fruit, and with prunes in the aftertaste. I had expected more.

Unclear dark amberorange body, foamy light brown head. Malty, slightly roasted and hoppy aroma, notes of brown sugar and hints of spices. Roasted and caramelly flavor with hoppy and grassy notes. Sweet with some bitterness in the finish and an underlying spicy tone. Easy.

Were it not for coming to love, appreciate and expect hoppy beers I might say this was hoppy. As it is, I would say it’s a very enjoyable, thirst quenching pale ale that’s well made and perhaps too easy to polish off in large quantities.
