Commercial Description:
This hoppy sweet amber was the original ale brewed at the first Lagunitas brewery in West Marin. The original, actually, was a fair example of 'Odious Ale-ism'. Sometimes it was wonderful, sometimes it took the enamel off your teeth. Well, we are better brewers now, and it has become a tasty Cal State Fair award winner!

Super nice color, is a dark ruby, orangey, brown, kinda hazy, with a small bubbly white head and patches of tight lace around the glass. Smells of nice sweet, fruit-like, malt with some fresh hops. Taste is great, very smooth, bold, clean, & fresh. Creamy and sweetly done malt with a very nice smooth, but slight hop dryness. Perfect medium body with a light and sweet dry finish. Very nice indeed. Well balanced and yummy. This is a great amber!

(06.11.06) 12 oz brown bottle from Beeronthewall.com. Poured clear dark brown with small white head. Soft carbonation. Fruity caramel aroma. Medium bodied ale that starts dry with caramel/fruity flavors. Finished dry with light hop bitterness. Well-balanced but with a slight edge toward hop bitterness, this is an excellent drinkable amber ale.

Bottle: Amber color is perfect with a fluffy tanned head and solid lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, sweetness, and hops. Taste is a rich maltiness, caramel, brown sugars, even a little fruitiness, and some light hops. Not overly hopped, thats for sure, but very solid flavor throughout. I was pleasantly impressed with this amber ale.

Nice pour! Amber color but the head didn't linger around too much. Good smooth taste with some hops and malt. Another good Lagunitas brew.

Glorious reddish amber in color with a nice head and no lacing. Aroma of caramel malt and sweet apples. Sweet caramel flavor with a slight zing of spiciness - like cinnamon in an apple pie. Very bubbly on the tongue and sweet in flavor. A nice beer altogether. Thanks to Flipbrewer.

Dark amber color, medium head. Medium bodied amber. Roasted malts, slightly sweet. Some hop spiciness, but the malts predominate. Full flavor. Mild taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is malty and slightly sweet, some bitterness. Nice milder tasting amber.

Nice mahogany color with an average size head. A very well balanced, medium bodied beer beer....very sweet, nice malt character, lots of hops too....it had everything, would make a nice session beer.

Deep caramel flavor with a delicious burnt accent and a nice, dry, hoppy finish. Extremely drinkable, but also quite flavorful. Outstanding.
