On tap, brought out by the Lagunitas folks at Concordia Ale house (!!).. Snifter. Pours rich mahogany red amber, with a thick, almond-tan head, and good lacing.. Aroma is very complex, with estery maple, caramel, toffee, wet cardboard, and some herbal hops in there for good measure.. Initial sip is amazingly complex, with toffee, honey-maple, with ripe cherries/apple, that gives way to some herbal hop notes, finishing deadly smoooooooth, with the rich toffee sweetness balancing with the hop bittering.. HOWEVER.. as the galss warms, the thick sickly sweetness of diacetal (sp?)creeps up :( and continues to become more and more prominent, making the beer nearly undrinkable towards the end- hence the unusual scoring..

Deep mahoganey. Light tan creamy full head with good lacing. Sweet slightly roasty aroma. Grape jelly. Creamy, sweet, roasted malt, slightly aged hops, caramel, light molasses. Good beer, would have liked to have had some a year ago.

Hazy brown-amber body under a big foamy tan head - good lacing. Small bubbles. Caramelized malt aroma. The flavor is similar, starting with sweet caramel malt and leading to bitter leafy hops and macintosh apple sweetness. Overall a decent sweet caramelly beer but not very interesting.

Bottle from Odeed. Pours to a deep red mahogany body with a creamy tan/yellow head with nice lacing. The aroma is hoppy and dark fruits. Heavy on the citrus flavored prunes in the aroma. The flavor is very interesting in this one. Piney malts, raisins, molasses, burnt brown sugar. Very nice as a whole. Nice mouth feel. Sweet, bitter, moderate body.

Deep mahogony color w/ a hugely thick and well laced tan head that leaves a soapy lacing. Aroma is very sweet tons of carmel and fruits (raisens, plums, figs) and some other candied sugars. Some light grain aromas taht remind me of a typical red along with some light pine hop notes too. Palate is nice lightly creamy little carbonation and a pretty light tongue footprint. Flavor is fairly light an odd astringent taste w/ lots of carmel and a moderate amount of pine with a decent amount of red tasting grains and some light fig and plum notes. Pretty average in the end.

Pours a clear red brown. Sweet and port like. Aromas of caramel malts and prunes. Nice thick fullness. Soft carbonation. Dry alcohol finish.
