Aroma is fruity malt, touch of chocolate and floral hops. A beer to celebrate the 3000 batch out of the Lagunitas brew kettle. A medium to full bodied American Strong Ale/Eisbock?? Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are grapefruity and floral. WOW. BIG malts, BIG hops and really well balanced. No trace of the 11.3% alcohol either. Very smooth tasting, nearly silky. Nice round soft carbonation. This stuff is really amazing right now. I wonder what it will be like in a year or two? Another amazing beer from Lagunitas. Keep it up guys. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. egajdzis (3636), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of caramel malt, smoke, faint citrus, vanilla beans, and light alcohol. Taste of sweet caramel malts, dried fruits, nuts, vanilla, and light alcohol as well in the finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Great looking pour: garnet with a thin tan head.
The aroma is sweet, doughy...
The flavor is great. No hint of the 11.3% ABV. Smooth as silk on the tongue, fruity flavor that is well balanced. Lots of great malts. Truly an excellent beer. ChillCoat (1029), Concord, California, USA

Murky amber/ coppery color. Frothy ivory head. Sweet caramel aroma. Caramel and toffee flavors with some bourbon. Tastes like a light barley wine.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 9, 2005 a claret red color with a thick creamy off white head, smells of grassy hops and lots of sweet caramels and some toast. flavors are very nicely blended, more or less mimicing what was in the nose. absolutely no hint of the abv, and just a completely smooth aftertaste. i would think this was an aged barley wine if i were driniking this in a blind tasting, becuase of the smoothness and excellent combination of the flavors. herbjones (742), Orange, California, USA

Rich bready flavor with over ripe plums. Abv is non existent. Full creamy body. Outstanding beer. elnadeau (786), Laguna Niguel, California, USA

Malt, some sweet dark fruit, bread, somewhat syrupy, almost into barleywine territory, hiding the abv like no other. Outstanding gorgeous flavored brew, with some room for improvement in the cellar, get some if you can. hopdog (5614), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured a darker reddish/brown color with an above averaged sized off white head. Smells like a nice aged barley wine - vanilla, earthy, light smoke, and caramel. Tastes of the same with dark fruits, brown sugar and very light alcohol (no where near the 11+ %).
