| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 15, 2009 Draft @ Bistro Barrel Aged Festival. Pours a murky, reddish-brown color; light-tan head with solid, fine-bubbled lacing. Lots of sour-mash whiskey / bourbon character in the aroma: brown sugar, charred barrel notes; a light sour-mash presence. Decent amounts of bourbon / sour mash notes, warming alcohol and complex maltiness upfront; solid barrel character, earthy malts, brown sugar, some smoked meat character as well; chewy, dense beer. Lasting finish: basic sour-mash bourbon, earthy maltiness, well-integrated throughout. washoppinin (19), Florida, USA

Sweet nose and taste from the sugar. Nice citric, vanilla, and maple notes. Much like the Imperial Red, but at 10% you feel this one. Lagunitasfan (458), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 29, 2009 On tap at San Diego Brewing co. OMFG this is good. Hand pumped. Caramel orange brown in the glass with no head, and lingering lace. Nose is rich sweet. Caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, and booze. Not overpowering. Taste is beautiful. Rich, smooth, and warmly sweet. Thick in the mouth. Vanilla, clove, brown sugar, and the rich alcohol sweetness of bourbon. I had two pints, but probably should have stopped at one. I don’t believe this one is only 10%abv. It put me on my ass. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA
