Aroma of sweet candi sugar and a a little alcohol. Flavor is cararmel, spicy and finishes a little to strong in alcohol flavor for me. An ok beer, but I probably won’t buy it again. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 12, 2009 12 oz. bottle from Trinity Liquors in Spring Hill, FL. Pours dark brown with a red tint and almost no head whatsoever. Sweet/Alcoholic aroma...mollasses, alcohol, caramel. Flavor of caramel, raw syrup, and alcohol. Nice warm feel and nice aftertaste, almost numbs the tongue a bit. Overall...Im not a barleywine guy...but this is a pretty solid beer...the alcohol isnt too strong and has good flavor...I think its a little better than Old Foghorn...especially at half the price. djtimeless (175), Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 11, 2009 Pours out a clear red with some foam. Taste is sweet and malty with bitter hops. Has a slight alcohol burn, as warms. Not that complex. Nice hoppy barley wine and @ 9.9%ABV in a 6-pack, you cant go wrong. raphael (417), Portland, Oregon, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 9, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark copper color with a decent tan head that fades fast. Taste is rather sweet, of caramel, sugar, citrus, hops and some alcohol. Similar aroma. Pretty easy to drink. Has an oily texture to it. Is slightly bitter. A pretty decent beer considering the alcohol content and the moderate price. carruthm (1158), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 9, 2009 red copper in color, still with no head. caramel and heavy candied sugar in the flavor, evident of barley wine roots. PilsnerPeter (2617), Flushing, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 9, 2009 Tap at Barcade: A tan ring tops the amber pour. Typical Barley Wine aroma- caramelized notes, candy-like malts and dark fruit suggestions. Slick and sweet. Flavor has lots of caramel soaked fruits, some fruit skin bitterness/tannin-like notes, sweet vanilla character and an abrupt moderately bitter finish. A straight forward drinkable barley Wine. scrizzz (1306), kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 9, 2009 Where does this beer go? Why into my Republican President glass of course! Clear bronze, fluffy spongy head, fresh green hop aroma. I could compare this beer to other barley wines or hold it to some lofty standard, but THIS COMES IN A 6 PACK. It’s amazing. Lighter bodied, creamy malt backbone, juicy hop finish and you get 6 beers at once. I cannot stress that enough.
