| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 17, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Orange brown body with a very thin head. Hops are the main players in this barley wine. Sticky sweet malts compliment, but the hops take main stage. More like some American Strong Ales I’ve had, kind of in between barley wine and IIPA. Fairly simple, but I liked it. illidurit (898), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 15, 2009 Pour: 12 oz stubby bottle to pint glass. Dark browned orange color with a creamy but small tan head.
Nose: Huge sweet citrus doused with maple syrup. Almost like a sweet double IPA.
Mouth: Pretty similar to the aroma; grapefruit with maple syrup is the dominant flavor. There’s some bitterness, astringency, and alcohol too. Medium full body, substantial ( and maybe a bit much) carbonation. Average drinkability.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 14, 2009 Copper color with a small off-white head. Sweetness is balanced with the caramel malts well. Plenty of flavor. Alcohol is well hidden. Overall pretty good. VitaminR (444), Colorado, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 13, 2009 Caramel, lemon, resiny cotton candy nose, massive bouquet. Brilliant reddish amber, small soapy head that remained, nice lacing. Rich malty caramel sweetness with crystallized sugar hops, solid bitterness for balance. Full body, creamy, good carbonation, long burning complex malty finish with hop notes at the end. This is an extremely good beer, huge and rich, full of flavor and balance. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 13, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra. Aroma of barley wine-ness and sweetness. Flavor is just aight. The balance is off a bit, but still cool that a crap-version of old gnarley is way better than other brews, except for Pabst Blue Ribbon. DalzAle (512), Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jan 12, 2009 Bottle. Poured a copper color with very little carbonation. Aroma of sweet candi sugar and a a little alcohol. Flavor is cararmel, spicy and finishes a little to strong in alcohol flavor for me. An ok beer, but I probably won’t buy it again. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 12, 2009 12 oz. bottle from Trinity Liquors in Spring Hill, FL. Pours dark brown with a red tint and almost no head whatsoever. Sweet/Alcoholic aroma...mollasses, alcohol, caramel. Flavor of caramel, raw syrup, and alcohol. Nice warm feel and nice aftertaste, almost numbs the tongue a bit. Overall...Im not a barleywine guy...but this is a pretty solid beer...the alcohol isnt too strong and has good flavor...I think its a little better than Old Foghorn...especially at half the price.
