Commercial Description:
An aborted batch of their Old Gnarleywine ended up tasting nearly as good as that they were hoping for, so they bottled it. God bless capitalism. OG 1.100 IBU 51.1

Getting notebook online. Very disappointing. For a beer names ’’Brown Shugga’’ you would expect a lot more sweetness. Good malt flavors with a good hop accent. More of a brown ale in my humble opinion.

Thi9s Barley wine poured a dark orange colour with a creamy tan coloured head. To the nose...hopps and alcohol, can’t seem to get any more. First taste was sweet and smooth with flavours of tea and caramel. Very sweet finish. Almost syrup like. Heavy alcohol scent/flavour with a sweet palate, lingering bitterness/hopp.

Hard to believe this was an aborted batch of anything! Very sweet and alcohol heavy, and it warms a lonely man up during those cold winter mornings. Surprisingly sweet finish on this one as well. Me likey!

Tap Capital Ale House Innsbrook 08/31/2008. West Coast Barley Wine. Citrus/Floral hops dominate aroma with roast and dark fruits. Murky amber brown with small white head. Flavor of dark fruits pineapple with roast, chocolate, and brown sugar. Full creamy body and mouthfeel. Finish is sweet but dries quickly with alcohol warming and citrusy bitterness. Quite tasty!
