| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 31, 2008 Poured a cloudy brown color with an off white head. Aroma was very sweet and malty, mainly the brown sugga i guess. Flavor was much the same, actually tasted like brown sugar, hardly any bitterness to be found. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Muddy brown pour with lots of floaties and huge chunks in the bottom of the glass, the head is thin and white. Nice aroma of caramel and malt. Good flavor of caramel, malt and hops, there’s also a sugary presence along with sweetness. The body is medium with a liquorous texture and moderate carbonation. tgncc (843), Bellmore, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 25, 2008 Sweet aroma of malts, brown sugar. Color is an attractive ruby red, persistent but thin white foam. The flavor is true to the barley wine style, sweet, sugary, slightly hoppy on the finish. Oily mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden. Respectable barley wine overall. Headbanger (1600), Aurora, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 20, 2008 12oz bottle(courtesy of RSRIZZO)-pours a nice ruby amber body with a small loose off white head. Aroma of roasted malt, hops, caramel, and of course brown sugar. Taste of the same with a nice sweetness and brown sugar present. This medium to full bodied brew is one of the better Barley wines I’ve had. Very well balanced and drinkable at 10%. Great brew. surffisher (196), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jun 18, 2008 12 ounce bottle. Pours a pretty, clear darkish amber with a quarter/half inch cream colored head that subsides quickly but continues to leave some nice lacing behind. Aroma is sweet with lots of molasses/brown sugar and some complex dark fruit esters. Very pleasant flavor as well - forward with malty sweetness, but with nice bittering hops for balance and some fruity esters, although again they take a bit of a back seat to the sweet malts. Medium-full bodied, moderate carbonation, smooth with just a touch of warmth. Very drinkable for 10%. This is certainly a happy mistake; a very accessible, tasty, and easy drinking strong ale/barleywine.
