| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 7, 2008 Very clear and amber in color, well, really more like a combination of raspberry and gold. The nose gives off scents of brown sugar, currant, orange peel, coriander and grapefruit. In the mouth the wine is smooth with good richness and a slightly dry, hoppy finish. The flavors from the nose continue showing off a mix of tart fruit with sweet caramel/brown sugar. A unique beer that hides the 9.9% alcohol very well. LooseCannon (928), Norfolk, Virginia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 7, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours dark copper in color with thin off whote head. Aroma sweet up front and floral hops. Taste is sweet, caramel and hops with bitter finish. Beerlando (2325), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 7, 2008 Pours a dark copper brown body with a well retained, foamy, cream colored head. Thick rings of lacing coat the glass well. The aroma is sweet up front, with caramel malts and brown sugar showing strong. Earthy and citrus hops complete the nose, adding balance. The flavor is again quite sweet, which overshadows the signature Lagunitas hop profile a bit. Caramel and brown sugar dominate, with orange and grassy hops lurking in the background. Medium-full bodied and smooth, though the after effects are pretty sticky. Very drinkable for a 10% ABV brew. Solid offering, but not one of Lagunitas’ best. highibus (430), Mill Creek, Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 7, 2008 Aroma slight breadiness with light hops and sweet brown sugar. Creamy white head was mostly lasting. Flavor was heavy on the sweet side with some slight acidity. Palate was medium to full bodied. Hides the 10% alcohol very well. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 6, 2008 Not usually a big fan of hoppy beers, but this one is very well done. Caramel and of course, brown suger flavor dominated the taste. The high alcohol content is not even noticable. Great beer!! wickedpete (627), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 6, 2008 Pours a dark caramel brown color with a quarter inch head that fades to a tan cloud and ring of bubbles on top. The aroma is candy sweet, with a hint of spices blending in. A bit of sweet fruits as well. Flavor has a light dry bitterness throughout but most noticeable is the fruity sweetness. The body is quite refreshing for such a sweet, strong brew. Quite a nice surprise.
