Initialy sweet moving to bitter in the finish. Caramel malt tangyness. Very Drinkable barley wine but nothing to spectacular as far as barley wines go. Grandpa (325), Verona, New York, USA

My first impression was a tongue twisting sourness, The malt was there but was overbalanced by the hops. The sweet malt experience, promised by the label, was not there. There were large, floating pieces of sediment in the bottom of the glass. Perhaps I was influenced by my son. After a couple of sips his bomber went down the drain. Sweet Syrupy Barley and Piney Citrus Notes on the Nose...The Aroma is Amazingly Balanced.. Medium to Heavy Body and Syrupy Mouthfeel. Sweet Almost Creamy Malt Notes, Quickly Being Forced to Compete with Clean, Wet, Citrusy and Piney Hop Notes....Leaving a Sweet but Wet/Dry Aftertaste. Solid but Not Overbearing Hop Taste Stays in Your Mouth. Very Smooth Drinker and although the Aroma was More Balanced Than the Taste, it Proves to be a Very Nice Barleywine and Worthy of Aging. petermadsen (390), Vesterbronxxx, Denmark
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 22, 2007 Hefty sweet malty beer with resiny, thick hop aroma.
Clear and dark amber with laces.
A whole lotta malt dominates the flavour, that is thick and sweet, is complimented by the nice hopflavour of citrus, grapes and pine. Quite bitter.
The palate is very balanced.
A nice barley wine that is a bit on the light side.. ElGaucho56 (393), USA

Not as overhopped as many American barleywines, but enough IBUs to combat the intense dark sugar sweetness. Pours dark gold with little to no head, syrupy body with clingy mouthfeel. Treacle, toffee, yeasty bread. And w/ a pleasant punch. Theis (3791), Denmark

Brown sugar, barley, dark bread, berries, dried fruits, nice hoppy, citrus, grape, light flowery. A bit too sweet, not powerfull enough. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark
