May 8, 2007 Bottled. A deep red beer with a medium sized orange head. The aroma is lovely grassy combined with notes of grapefruit, hops, and some caramel, as well as just the faintest hint of alcohol - a very inviting aroma. The flavor is very sweet - a bit too sweet for my liking, with strong notes of caramel, hops, grapefruit, grass, pine needles, roasted malt, and alcohol, leading to a very bitter end with the hops, grapefruit and alcohol lingering, the bitterness finaly turns dry. The body is thick. Just a bit too aggresive in sweetness and alcohol for my, but still nice.

May 6, 2007 Pours a deep amber hue. The aroma is a sweet blend of molasses, honey and citrus. The taste is definitely a mix of honey sweetness and malty alcohol. You can sense the alcohol as it goes down the throat.

May 3, 2007 This poured as amber as amber could be, citris nose with the hint of brown shugga hence the name. alcohol present, of course. Later taste of bitterness.

May 2, 2007 22 oz. bomber. Heavily alcoholic - I did’t think it was hidden very well, and I like high abv beers. The brown sugar aspect really showed through in the malt background...didn’t feel like drinking the whole bomber, and it was nothing I would ever crave again. Enough said.

May 2, 2007 This offering from Lagunitas pours a rusty brown leaving a thick frothy tan head that sticks with this brew. The aroma is toffee, caramel, brown sugar, leafy citrus hops. The taste is smooth on the palate, it hits you with some alcohal heat upfront, but it is not overwhelming it actually is pretty hidden for almost 10%. The beer then takes you to a sweet brown sugary feel that is offset by pungent citrus rind hops, medicinal in feel, that finishes with a cooked sugar, cookies, sweetness in the end this is another great offering from Lagunitas, one that is made for winter sipping.

May 1, 2007 Incredibly nice copper-red color and the head is nice and creamy. The aroma is hoppy with light sweetness and notes of grass and resin. The flavour is sweetish with notes of caramel, cane sugar (more than brown sugar to me), aroma hops, citrus and a hint of resin. Quite nice, not outstanding. 2013

Apr 29, 2007 Pours amber with a small head. Sweet brown sugar aroma, caramel as well. Sweet stuff, light bitterness to finish. Alcohol hidden well.
