Pours a thick black with a nice creamy beige head. The aroma is pretty sweet, with some nice chocolate, coffee and roasted caramel malt notes. The flavor is more bitter than the aroma, but is quite nice. The roasted malt character seems to dominate, while the chocolate and coffee take supporting roles. There is also a decent hop presence that helps to bitter the flavor - mostly piney I would say. Alright, as the beer warms the coffee becomes more apparent, especially in long, tasty finish. The mouthfeel is nice and full, coupling nicely with the flavor, but is not quite as creamy as the best stouts I’ve tasted. Good beer overall.

This stout pours black with a thick, creamy beige head. The head does not last long, but some of it lingers throughout the drink. The aroma is of chocolate and roasted malt. It smells sweet and seems to have that high-alcohol/barleywine aroma. The flavor is good. It tastes like mocha cappucino with hints of roasted malt that is balanced with some hops. It is almost too sweet to me. The body is medium-heavy with a medium amount of carbonation. This tastes like a good stout to me and I’ll drink it again.

Deep reddish brown appearance with a large, mocha colored head and decent lacing. Roasted coffee aroma with caramel malts topping it off. Woody, smokey taste, with dark fruits and a dash of chocolate adding a touch of sweetness. Subtle, but noticable, hop presence. Lush, full bodied, modestly carbonated mouthfeel. Sweet, lingering finish.

Opaque black pour. Nice light tan head. Coffee aroma - like a very dark espresso roast. Sweet coffee and cream flavor...almost like coffee ice cream. Very good. Much sweeter than other coffee stouts I’ve had.

Dark brown stout with low carbonation. The taste is coffee, slight hop. The aroma is better and fuller than the actual taste which is a shame. One could expect more from a stout with this high an alcohol content.

Decidedly non-black for a stout, closer to a dark mahogany. Sand colored head is modest at about a centimeter. Leaves some thin paisley lacing. Aroma is very deep. A coffee bean note is detectable behind the sweet vanilla and chocolate. A lot of stouts have muddled aroma profiles where it’s hard to discern what’s going on but each note here is distinct and clear, while still maintaining synergy. Flavor is sweet up front with lactose and chocolate, then roasty with a ton of coffee. Hops are apparent in the finish as they contribute a rindy, citric twang to the roasted bitterness. Tasty but not very robust. Carbonation is just about perfect, body is a little thinner than it could be, alcohol is nowhere to be tasted.

Black pour with almost no head. Tobacco and dirt mouth. Medium to full bodied, wheres the coffee? I really didnt pick up on much. Unpleasant, might be my last purchase from these guys.

Poured a very dark brown with a nice thick head from the bottle. Had an aroma of coffee and chocolate. The taste was of chalky coffee with an unpleasantly bitter aftertaste. I love Lagunitas beer was so hoping for more but was disappointed.
