Bomber from some pals - thanks, Tina and Joyce. On the initial pour, my immediate thought was that I have to get another bomber soon. Very flat, almost nothing happening in the carbo and zero head. Reading some other reviews, I wonder about this bottle. Faint coffee and chocolate in the nose, but the actual brew tastes a bit insubstantial, both in terms of stoutness and coffee-ness. I dig a good coffee stout too, so I’ll give this one another shot and rerate if appropriate.

Pours black. The coffee notes are perfect, and not over-powering at all. Bold, yet smooth, with just a slight alcohol bite in spite of its 8.3% APV. Excellent.

Black with a lasting tan head. Really strong coffee aroma which isn’t entirely pleasant - has a note of sour, cold coffee. Caramel and dark malt is noticed in the background of the aroma. Flavour is dry, and also dominated by cold coffee, maybe even cold espresso, and with a lot of alcohol. Too much coffee, not enough stout. Cellaring might make it less harsh, but I doubt this beer will ever make me happy.

Pours a dark tan colored head over motor oil colored body. Obvious aroma of cappuccino, along with faint maltiness. Tastes of coffee ice cream, cereal, mild salt. Silky smooth and very enjoyable!

Bomber. Rich coffee aroma, first whiff is a sweet candyish duft, but eventually we’re into nothing but beans and ground, dry and gritty and heavenly coffee-ee! Mahogany pour, not quite opaque, with a light brown soapy head. Espresso and light chocolate and caramel, a bit of mocha and slight candyish notes from the yeast, with an effect (but not taste) of artificial sweetener. Fullish body with light prickling from the hops, a fully dry finish and even drier aftertaste. A touch oily. Alcohol is well-integrated but still noticeably there and not exactly refined. Not a classically great stout (has some tendency towards cloying, though it doesn’t ever get there, and a little less heft than I’d like from a coffee-infusion), but a fun one!

66cl bottle: Pours black with a creamy brown head & lacings. Aroma is soft & sweet of roasted malts. Texture is smooth & filling. Very well rounded & taste have loads of bitter coffee. I miss some hop appearance & lesser buttery notes. But overall nice & drinkable! Dry roasted end.

Opaque black in color that poured a thick head which dissipated to leave some light lacing. The nose was filled with coffee laced with a touch of bourbon, campfire smoke and brandy macerated cherries. In the mouth the coffee and campfire smoke took center stage in a balanced beer that showed off its high IBU’s toward the finish which ended dry. There is no apparant bourbon/brandy in the mouth which may have helped fill out the midpalate and make it a truly outstanding beer. Instead it remains a bit dry and light on its feet.
