Commercial Description:
This ale contains no actual copper but we're pretty literal... It looked coppery, so we lamely called it a copper ale. Lots'a nice caramel malt though... Alcohol 5.9% by volume

APPEARANCE: Pours a clear copper color with a medium size off-white head that dissipates quickly. Small amount of lacing. AROMA: Malts and orange like citrus. Hints of caramel and surprisingly I am picking up some scents of alcohol. FLAVOR: Similar to aroma but caramel is more predominant and I don’t taste the alcohol. I also pick up some grassy hops, especially as the beer warms. MOUTHFEEL Medium body with slightly syrupy texture. Soft carbonation. DRINKABILITY: Very easy drinking beer. Flavorful and smooth. Just a tad too sweet for me. NOTES: BBCSD-200901-Danielle

2/1/09 - Bottle. Pours copper with off-white head. Foamy head. Super sugary, brown sugar and molasses with slightly oxidized notes and mildly hoppy. Huge mouth feel, sugary and thick. Nose is caramel and brown sugar. This is all sweet. Not bad, but wow, I"m glad I’m not a diabetic.

A decent beer but doesn’t really live up to Lagunitas in my mind (one of my favorite breweries overall). It’s fairly straightforward with a nice balance of malt and hop--very drinkable but nothing remarkable like I expect from them.

Fantastic hoppy smell, great strong flavors of sugar and caramelized sugar, but not as strong as Mackeson or Dragon Stout. Slight hoppy bitterness to it. This beer has many good things going for it.

As the beer fills the glass a small tan head forms and then assimilates into the clear copper color of the brew. Scents of grass and barley rise up. The impact upon sipping sparkles with a bite.Medium bodied, mildly carbonated and crisp, Lagunitas Censored Copper Ale goes down smooth with an excellent balance of sweets and bitters. This beer is tasty without being overly ambitious
