| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 27, 2008 On tap at Iron Rabbit in Olympia, WA. Pours a deep copper color with a thin beige head. The aroma is of a pleasant meadow and hops, with a malty undertone. The flavor is a bit maltier than I expected, but not too sweet since there is a decent hops balance. Good mouthfeel. Not a bad brew at all. I’d like to pair this beer with grilled chicken breasts (skin-on, marinated in soy sauce, red vinegar, garlic and parsley for a few hours first), grilled corn on the cob, and garlic mashed potatoes. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 26, 2008 Pours a medium dark coppery color forminf little to no foamy head. Aroma of malts, hops, caramel. Fair amount of lacing. Flavour was of metallic carameled malts with a tinge of hop action. Fairly drinkable, but not really what I think of as a strong ale in the traditional sense. Overall well made and tasty. Guinness4Duff (507), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 20, 2008 Bottle. Copper pour with an off white head. Has a strong sweet caramel malt aroma. Strong caramel flavor as well that sits overtop a nice underlying bitterness. Not bad. RunDWP (203), San Jose, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 20, 2008 Copper color, with thin white head. Roasted malt flavor, with nice dry hos bitterness at the finish. I didn’t detect much sweetness in the malt. Sharp and crisp for an ale. A bit astringent, which for me was a good thing. Would go well with a nice juicy burger. robforbes (1099), Bremerton, Washington, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 18, 2008 pours a clear amber with a light tan head, good lacing.
smell is really faint, some fruit, some caramel, some malt.
taste is sweet fruit, some hops, touch of caramel, a little metallic, as it warms grain and malt. Gypsy19 (651), California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 17, 2008 This is a really good, unique ale. Sort of a cross between an IPA and a weak belgian. Taste is hoppy and bitter, but a sweet palate rounds it out nicely. Kicks pretty fast too, even though less than 6%. Recommended. Won’t disappoint. DrBayern (1137), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 16, 2008 12 oz. bottle on 7/16/08.
Aroma - Lots of malt based aroma - toasty grain, caramel, burnt sugar. Some earthiness and spice follows.
Appearance - Coppery amber, medium off white to beige head that settles quickly, fair lace.
Flavor - Leans toward bitterness quickly, supported by a sturdy caramel sweetness, moderately dry finish.
Palate - medium body, light carbonation, faintly syrupy initially, but giving way to some astringency and drying bitterness.
Overall- Quite tasty, lots of flavor, probably better with the right food, some smoked fish or hearty beef dishes, than by itself.
