Color made me think caramel and I was right. The aroma was strong piney hops. The flavor was strong caramel, which I expected, but a piney flavor, but not really hop bitterness. Rich full, but simple taste. Reminded me of a mild version of an Old Ale but less sweet and with an american piney hop twist. A little more hops and bitterness would have given this more character, though. It was good, but could have been better with a little more OOMPH or something. explosivebeer (36), Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 1, 2008 This beer has a great amber color and is very clear. It has a healthy head, mild aroma, and great initial taste. A solid mouth feel with moderate sweetness and only a hint of hops finishes it nicely. I’ll definitely have it again. brianprentiss (475), Portland, Oregon, USA

This is a pretty basic beer, not too hoppy or malty, just right. At 5.9% how is this a strong american ale. badnewsbeers (1026), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 17, 2008 Amber in color and taste. Lighter than most Lagunitas beers, but very tasty as they all are. I’m drinking this one while my 8 month old baby girl rolls around on the floor. That’s kind of how I feel. A bit like someone rolling around. Give me another beer! | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 16, 2008 Nose was of sweet mandarin oranges and hops. Mouth is fruity, notes of less sweet blood orange and crisp balanced smoothness. A nice brew from Lagunitas. jbean (110), Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 15, 2008 Draught at Pub in Ida Noyes. Thick beige head that lasts and last atop clear copper beer. The aroma is sweet, caramel malts and fruity hoppiness. Flavor is malty but with decent hop backing (not very powerful), and is pretty well balanced. Biscuit, fruits, and hops. Kind of like a malty IPA. Medium bodied and smooth. Something is just missing at the finish, like it’s over faster than it should be. But still, a very solid beer. wickedpete (627), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 9, 2008 Caramel brown with only a slight head formation. Sweet candy, fruit, and hop aroma. Very light flavor. Slight hops, steeped grains, citrus, and caramel. Bitter finish. Very easy drinking overall. Quite sessionable.
