Commercial Description:
This ale contains no actual copper but we're pretty literal... It looked coppery, so we lamely called it a copper ale. Lots'a nice caramel malt though... Alcohol 5.9% by volume

Orange towards brown with a small tan head. Aroma is medium hobby, with both dusty and grassy hobs comming through. Also has strong notes of bread mixed with alchohol and caramel. Flavor is mainly sweet and alchoholic, with a thick malt blend of grain and again bread. Thick sticky palate.

12 oz bottle. Yes, more an APA than a "strong" ale, althought there’s clearly more malt & hops here than normal. Good, deep copper color under a sponecake touch o’brown head. Hoppy pale ale smell. Thick crystal malts that leave stickiness on the lips. Low esters, good balance of American hops. Alcohol is there, but not obtrusive. Can I say it’s almost Too balanced? Needs more of a push toward either hops or malts.

Great sesion beer. Just as in the name rich taste with a copper ale. Not over the top in sweetness or hops. I would call it an APA.

12 oz single from Total Wine. Label states O.G. 1.065 which would give 5.9% abv. Label also states IBU 25.08 So for an American Strong Ale, its not so strong. It does have a hop flavor similar to an IPA along with a reasonably malty base and a bit of caramel. I had this one way too cold to start, but after it warmed a bit the flavor opened up and it tasted like a cross between an IPA and an Amber. Pretty good stuff but I was hoping for a bit more, given the hype.

Bottle. Copper colored with strong spicy hop aroma. The taste was the same but alittle overwhelming. Almost too bitter and spicy. Actually made my mouth hurt. oh, the aroma was sort of catty and skunky.

Copper ale, IPA, americanized ESB, american strong? Whatever, I really enjoyed this. Aroma was a pleasing combination of doughy sugary malt and spicy floral hops. The flavor began much the same, but before I pronounced it balanced, a full hoppy bitterness rose up in the finish to greet. This was a a bitterness on par with IPA, but it managed to enmesh with the malts rather than standout. Good the thing caramelized malts provided a full smooth sweetness. Not syrupy at all, very nearly sessionable. I could definitely stand to have more of this around. Copper color with a big foamy head.

(Rating #1298)

whoa- 7.7. no wonder I tasted the bracing booze at first sip. This thing was strong, a little too big for its britches, and not well balanced. It ended up smoothing out towards the end, which suggests I should have given it more time to breathe. That said, I would not purchase again.
