Aug 25, 2007 Bottle sampled. Pours a light copper color with a small off-white head. Aroma of sweet malts, citrus, yeast, and some brown sugar. Ultra smooth flavor of caramel malts, light molasses and a hop spice. Alcohol is well masked with a clean and smooth finish. This is an awesome american strong ale.

Aug 24, 2007 All I can say is wow! This thing is 7.7%.
shocking.
It was very easy drinking.
The look is above average. The feel is average. The aroma is a bit on the weak side, as is the flavor. But the flavor is very good, just wouldn’t mind a bit more. The main flavors were of malts. Tastes like a bouquet of roses. So that might be the strangest thing I’ve ever written, but its very floral.

Aug 24, 2007 Very little aroma, but what there is is like ass and cherries. Copper colored, clear, medium white head. Taste is not strong, with berries and hops. Not much of a finish at all. This beer is neither exciting nor enjoyable.

Aug 22, 2007 On tap @ the Hopyard, San Ramon, Ca. Came in a pitcher, a beautiful golden amber hue. Nice hoppy nose. Great balance of hop and malt, with a clean hop finish. Will hava again.

Aug 19, 2007 Pours like a new copper penny, large off wihte head. Very faint/light sweet caramel malt aroma. Incredible bitter hops presence from the first sip. Dry and bitter. I like this one.

Aug 18, 2007 Pours a hazy copper color with a quickly receding white head, leaving bits of lacing. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel-like with a touch of floral hops. Taste gives a trace of toffee, plenty of caramel sweetness that lingers, accompanied by just about the right amount of hops. Medium body and soft, yet higher carbonation. The numbers in my review do not fully match my opinion of this beer. Taste is higher than 4, but not quite a 4.5. This is one that I think I may be picking up more regularly. Well played, Lagunitas.

Aug 17, 2007 Pours an orangey copper color with a thin white head. Aroma of caramel with mild hops and some candy sweetness. While the aroma is interesting, the flavor isn’t, the malt feels flat and dull, there are mild hops but also a mild cardboard that could be a sign of a beginning of oxydation. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Average.
