Pours a beautiful, clear orangy red with a small, creamy, yellowish/off-white head. Doughy malty aroma, fat fruity hops notes abound. Highish carbonation, light creamy and dry mouthfeel. Flavour is relatively malty, caramel and doughy. There is a fine bitterness and hops finish to it. Quite elegant, fresh and sessionable. j12601 (1306), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA

Nose is sweet and malty, with a bit of hops. Medium bodied and with a bit of malt and light bitterness. Ends with a light hoppy note. Very sessionable, though not overly memorable. bconley (351), Fern Park, Florida, USA

It is a red colored ale with a decent head that fades fast. The smell is a malty sweetness. The flavor is that of a bland amber ale with the trademark Lagunitas sweetness. This beer is ok but not something I look for when I think of west coast red ales.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 4, 2009 One of my all time favorite drinking beers. I think this is an amazingly balanced brew! The first nose is a sweet slightly hop spice hitting your nose. The caramal malt in this beer massages the top of the mouth. The beer leaves you wanting another swig! 0o9i (335), Reno, Nevada, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 4, 2009 Bottled & tap. Deep, copper body with an off-white, orange-hued head that laces a bit. Mouth is medium-full with nice carbonation. Aroma is well-malted with caramel, sugar, citrus. Flavor is dominated by caramel malts, balanced out by some citrusy hops. Sugar, roastiness, a bit chewy. This is a nice beer when I just want something malty and easy drinking. Pinball (2890), Allerød, Denmark

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 25, 2009 Pours a nice copper (it’s namesake) with a thin almost nonexistent white head. Aroma is full of caramel malt, slightly hoppy, and a hint of vanilla. Drinks very smooth, tons of caramel malt, kinda hoppy, a little metallicy, with a light vanllla finish. Smooth and drinkable, but nothing exciting. A decent beer from Lagunitas.
