desurfer (1032), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA May 30, 2008 Light amber body, no head. Aroma of doughy malts, caramel and yeast. Flavor is sweet and rather rich, with more bready malts and a mild dose of hoppiness. Not much in the way of alcohol. Smooth, dry finish. Very drinkable.
mar (568), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 28, 2008 amber, ruby pour with a thin cream head that dissipates fairly fast. light citrus hop scent along with some figs and malts. good thickness on the palate with a smooth citrus hop bite and a nice malty finish. Radek Kliber (3302), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 28, 2008 Bottle 355 ml sold as Hook & Ladder Golden Ale
Appearance: amber tea copper brew with lighter somewhat fizzy top.3- Nose: Rich paired sweet malt with aromatic citric hops. Nose of mango with orange juice. 7+ Flavor/Palate : Medium full bodied with lighter finish. Malty feel with more of citric all American hop notion. Late tea bitterness spiked with citric tang. Straight solid brew.f-7- ericandersnavy (107), denton, Texas, USA Aug 28, 2008 bottle picked up from wine squared in denton, tx. poured a copper color with a long lasting frothy off white head. aroma of bread malt, floral essence and perfume. flavor was a little lacking. some malt, bread, and what seems to be a metal type bitter. also a touch on the watery side. not sure why it is an american strong ale. afireinside96 (410), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 26, 2008 12oz bottle served in an English pint glass. Copper dolor body topped off-white head. Smells of sweet bready malt, maybe a hint of diacetyl. Not really much to the flavor, some dough, some sharp metallic notes, earth, tea. It does leave some really nice lacing. Should probably go in the amber ale category instead of American strong. Rather bland. steview (746), Oceanside, California, USA Aug 26, 2008 hint of citrus in the buttery bread aroma; looks like a decent ale not an american strong ale--i don’t get it; light, but with a good amount of malt like advertised; one of those stronger regular ales out there proving to be nothing special, but this wouldn’t even qualify as a go-to--too heavy actually; meh--worth a try.
