| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 6, 2009 Not as complex and "big" as some of the notable impy stouts, but crisp and easy drinking. Aroma is sweet chocolate and some breadiness. Taste is roasted malts, lots of chocolate, some caramel. Finishes clean, but doesn’t leave any lingering taste, which is where this beer is lacking. 3.99 for a 22 oz bottle is a great deal. Jwasciuk (194), Lowell, Michigan, USA

Aroma is malty of cookies and roasted malts, lightly hoppy and lightly yeasty. Flavor has a great balance, roasted malts, carmel with a firm bitterness and a clean finish. Full bodied creamy and softly carbonated, Best of the series so far. savnac (453), Palmer, Alaska, USA

Dark brown with a light brown head. Flavor is mostly sweet, chocolate and a smokey roasted malt dominate and there are also spicy and caramel hints. Full bodied with a thick syrupy mouth feel and low carbonation. This is a solid beer, rich and flavorful but not too overpowering. BeerandBlues2 (3231), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2009 Bottle. Pours black with a small, rocky, light brown head, mostly diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toffee, nutty), light hops (grass), average yeast (leather) with notes of raisin, dates, and brown sugar. Full bodied, gritty texture, average carbonation, and a chalky finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness. chicagodri (1069), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2009 From the bottle. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Light chocolate aroma and flavor. I thought it was a little thin and bland though, especially for the 8.6% abv I was expecting a lot more powerful flavor. jcweaver (65), VA Beach, Virginia, USA

Very dark brown. Small, beige head.
Vinous and fruity aroma and flavour with some chocolate.
Salty and malty flavour; a bit soy-like. WeeHeavySD (3041), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 3, 2009 Bomber, I had to rate this for 3 reasons.
1. Its an Imperial Stout
2. Is it as bad as most people say?
3. Its lagunitas and I don’t know if a beer from them could be this bad.
Pours black with a tan head that fades. Nose is sweet and roasty, with some slight chocolate. Taste is sweet and light and overall just ok. This isn’t disgusting based on most ratings, but it also isn’t great. Not the best brew from the folks in Petaluma but I don’t see where either the ravers or the haters are on this one. Its just passably ok.
