| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 2, 2009 This is one of those beers that looks black but is really brown. The head is brown but it’s a different brown. The aroma sort of reminds me of a belgian stout with lots of dark fruit combining with molasses. The flavor is full of caramel, molasses, brown sugar, and chocolate. Not roasty. Weird. The peppers is almost not there all until 10 minutes after you drink it. This one is fine just fine. dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 31, 2009 Pours a dark brown with an off-white head and a medium brown thin layer between. Aroma is mild of roasted malts, dried fruits, some spices. Flavor is a bit disappointing, but coincides with the aroma. I have trouble calling this an impy stout, passable. carl4beer (405), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 30, 2009 Aroma of dark chocolate, backed by roasted malts, a touch of spice lurking in the background. Pours an opaque brown (with light tan at the edges), with a thin tan head. Light mouthfeel, but a nice flavor of chocolate and roasted malts, finish has a touch of pepper in it. I’m not sure if Imperial Stout is the right classification, but it is quite tasty. abcfan (247), New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 30, 2009 This one is very memorable. Who would have though chocolate and peppercorns could taste go well together? Pours black with fluffy tan head. Notes of chocolate, pepper and licorice throughout. Very easy drinking. afireinside96 (839), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 29, 2009 22oz bottle served in a shaker glass. Pours dark brown with a fizzy diminishing head. Smells sweet and caramely with notes of toffee, chocolate, coffee, and bread. The taste is sweet and fruity, some notes of dark rum, pepper, and molasses. Has quite a bit of heat to it. Very fizzy and sticky feeling in the mouth. Not much different from Lagunitas’ regular imperial stout and I wasn’t a huge fan of that one either. presario (3002), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 29, 2009 Bottle. Very dark brown. Long lasting thin head. Sweet aroma chocolate, licorice, plum and sharp molasses. Very thick body, almost heavy. More sticky molasses and licorice than chocolate. Dark chocolate comes through in the aftertaste. The beer has such a thick flavour that the peppercorns seem to be lost. Quickly drinking it is a thick dark chocolate drink. zach8270 (2131), Henrietta, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 28, 2009 (bottle - 22 oz) Dark black pour with a thick tan head. Aroma is roasty and slightly sweet with some hints of dark chocolate and a lot of roasted malts. Flavor begins with a slightly roasted flavor mixed with some sweetness. Flavor disappears quickly and leaves a light peppery note on the palate. A little thin-bodied, but very warming and flavorful. Lots more roasted flavors as the beer warms.
