Bottle. Pours with a small, khaki head that dissipates to a ring quickly underneath is a murky, ultra dark brown body. Decent lacing from the ring. Licorice, chocolate, vanilla, vinegar, teriyaki and pepper in the aroma. Taste is a bit meaty, with smoke, nuts, chocolate and light pepper. Nice alcohol flavor on the finish. Creamy mouthfeel, light bubbles.

Not knowing what a "BoppaDooyaDoo" style was at the store, imagine my great joy when I learned this is a stout. But it’s a stout that falls a little short of imperial status, unique and troublesome at times I enjoyed it to a certain degree. Sugary molasses aroma with strong hints of cocoa and vanilla bean. Amber~brown body with a 1/4" creamy tan head and minimal spotty lacing. Bitter sweet to the palate, relatively thin with a metallic aftertaste. Flavors of bitter cocoa, licorice, and burnt caramel. There is a nice spicy pepper quality and a noticeable hop presence to boot. The enjoyment got better as the bottle emptied, different and overall pretty good.

HHMMM I i thought i was drinking an old ale with malt and cherry flavors that morphed into a pruney and raisin like flavor that was sticky sweet. yes wood or reed flavors and enough of a different brew that i could not have guessed lagunitas. a bit zingy but sorry nothing to brag about really. you fooled be let that be it!

Bomber. Pours frothy dark brown with a large, lasting brown head. Aroma is somewhat sweet, and somewhat roasted malt, with some chocolate, wood, and caramel. Flavor is also a bit sweet---caramel malt, milk chocolate, and some fruitness---temperated by some hops, woodiness, char, and spiciness. Good deal of complexity and nice combination of flavors. (Not very much like a stout, but a good beer anyway.)

Bottle. Muddy pour with some beige head. Aroma is chocolate, molasses and mild roast. Flavor is the same, pretty sweet overall from the chocolate, fruit and molasses, but some roast and burnt malt to balance it some.

pours clear a nearly black shade of ruby dark brown. it’s capped by a long lasting khaki/cocoa colored head and moderate spots of lacing.

the smell reminds me of a really sweet rather mediocre baltic porter... malt powder, coffee-like nuttiness, chocolate, licorice, molasses, lactose and a bunch of dark dried fruit.

the palate is a touch on the sweet side for me. it is also rather baltic-like... milk chocolate, malt powder, earthy woodiness (must be the peppercorns), coffee, dried stone fruits and caramel flavors abound. there’s a dry hoppy bitterness on the finish which helps to make the sugar seem like a non issue. it also leaves behind a nice floral aftertaste. about mid palate i notice a slight sourness or light tang which borders a charred character which also helps deal with the sugar. the medium body is quite creamy and smooth with sudsy carbonation yet dry and prickly. 7/4/7/4/15/3.7
