| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 16, 2006 Bottle, from trade with Captaincougar. Good aroma. I got an initial sweetness, like a canned ice tea that gave way to a citrusy (grapefruit, lemon/lime) Some herbaly perfumy too. Clean brownish orange color, good head & lacing. Bitter flavor. Citrusy, grassy, grainy, little detergenty. Medium body, creamy slick mouthfeel, bitter finish. I like it to some extent, but I don’t think I’m running down another one as I didn’t like it as much toward the end. Aubrey (2777), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 16, 2006 Great appearance: Nice and cakey head; clear and bright golden. Piney nose. Malts had a healthy caramel base, but the hops really took the stage. Unfortunately, they were rather stark, resinous and unruly. Huge pine along with some solvent. Moderate bitterness and heavy sourness in the finish. Didn’t really care for the hop profile in this one. Hops were "big," but I didn’t think they had much finesse. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 16, 2006 i guess my affection to the IPA/dIPA has diminished somewhat. everything about this is very characteristic, yet i’m not all that excited about it. smell is pretty balanced, some hops, bit piney. pretty regular palate. front end dry, back end bitter. pretty alcoholic for an IPA, which is nice. and it definitely is more an IPA than a dIPA. that’s all i’ve got. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 15, 2006 22 oz bomber: Aroma is citrus/grapefruit & Pine. Appearance is a nice golden yellow color. Taste is very hoppy, but seems kind of dry to me. Seems a little unbalanced, and I dont ever say that. Overall pretty good, especially for Lagunitas, but still not as good as I would have hoped. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 14, 2006 Bomber. Aroma: I have a bit of a cold, but the aroma still punches through strong. Grapefruit juice, resin, pine, apricots, with a sweet maltiness holding it all together. Appearance: Golden yellow in color and quite clear. Head was white, full and creamt with nice retention. Eventually dissipated into a good looking film. Good lacing. Flavor: Hop flavors are well done. Strong resin and pine with a touch of grass, and a nice grapefruit juiciness. A good breadiness presents midway through with some sweet caramel tagging along. Bitterness is just right. Bitterness builds as I drink, but never gets to strong. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium-high carbonation. Slight alcohol warming in back of mouth. Overall: A good, well rounded, and great drinking IPA. Wish I had some more. unclemattie (2416), Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 18/20 | Oct 14, 2006 Orange-yellowish in color. fluffy white head. Very nice lacing. HEavy hitting pine aroma. I love that smell! Flavor is sweet and very easy to go down. Doesn’t seem to have too high on the IBUs, but still very pleasant. I highly recomend this IPA while it’s around. nhorween (640), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Oct 13, 2006 Bottle (reminds me of a Frank Zappa poster I used to have). Crystal clear honey color with a soapy offwhite head. Good IPA aroma- hops, citrus, resiny sweetness, alcohol, slightly piney. Slight floral notes and tingly in the nose. Decent flavor, but pretty one dimensional. Hops, bitterness, none of the sticky sweetness I smelled in the aroma, but very smooth. I don’t detect any alcohol in the flavor. Mouthfeel is my least favorite part of this beer. It seems too thin, especially in comparison to the fullness of the aroma. This is a good one, and, for the price, definitely worth having.
