Not overpowering in the hop department but just right. Kind of tastes like a bitter/IPA mix. Another good one from Lagunitas. dkoonce (899), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA

The first thing that hits you with this beer is the aroma that tells you that it’s an IPA. While nothing on the very busy label indicated it to me, the hops gave it away. Shame the hops don’t carry over as strong in the flavor as the aroma. Medium body and quick clean finish. BREWMUSKCLES (1089), New Jersey, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 13, 2007 Hazy golden amber with a large off-white head demonstrating excellent retention. Initial aroma is a resinous sharp hoppiness, but as I spend some time with this some sweeter aromas come forward, including ginger and light citrus. Fresh hop-heavy palate with decent accompanying sweet pale malt. Finish is crisp and dry. Delicious. IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 6, 2007 Poured an effervescent golden with a large frothy white head. Beautiful aroma of pine and grass hops with some citrus elements... clean, refreshing, and invigorating. Flavor is nicely hoppy with good notes of grapefruit and pine, with some whole wheat honey biscuit malt coming up towards the end of the mouthfeel. Body is fizzy and oily. Ends with a somewhat alcohol hoppy dry finish. A nicely well-rounded IPA that, during a time when I was starting to have my doubts, reminded me what I love so much about this style. Outstanding. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 2, 2007 Man, I must be in a good mood tonight. Bomber consumed on 3/2/07 Awesome hoppy nose. Best one, by far, that I’ve smelled on a Lagunitas beer. None of that obnoxiously sweet, underattenuated caramel/crystal maltiness. Really fresh, dry and not overly bitter/acidic/piney/citric. More noble hops than anything, it seems. And what’s this??? Ridiculous white head is full, frothy and creates huge lacing. Very good retention. Clear, filtered, light copper body with lots of carbonation. Sweet pale malts arent overdone, though it’s quite sweet. But the hops invade quickly, with lots of grassiness and light orange fruits (nectarine, peach, mango). Only a bit of pine sits in the background and actually improves the overall complexity, drying things out and adding light wintergreen and spruciness. Pale maltiness is full of honey and light caramel, with some light candied orange sweetness on the end that helps cut the moderate acidity. Clean and very drinkable, with low carbonation. Toastiness/acidity builds up a bit too much on the finish and the carbonation comes out of solution too easily, being filtered, making it not so crisp as the bomber wears on. Damn, DFH going light on their filtration again and now an excellent Lagunitas beer? rmussman (906), California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 2, 2007 Very nice tribute beer. A lot of experimentation in the brew. Best part is when you pour it and it releases a lot of nice aroma and good head. Interesting flavor is unique. jsquire (2123), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 1, 2007 Golden color out of the bomber bottle with a faint whisp of a head. Big hoppy nose of pine and grapefruit with some burnt toast. This is a hop dominated beer with lots of grapefruit and orange peel, but with a substantial pine forest kick. Full bodied beer with a strong toasted bread malt backbone. The 7.3% is well hidden. This is a very nice IPA.
