Tons of pine needles in the nose with lots of oranges. Quickly disappearing white head. Slight haze in the orage amber color. Creamy and bubbly, it wraps around your tongue. Lots of favorful orange hops, with a solid, but not overly sweet, malt base. Probably the best Lagunitas offering ever. kimcgolf (835), Dacula, Georgia, USA

The aroma was very strongly citrus, mostly of grapefruit, and was very evident the for the whole beer. Flavor was some of the strongest grapefruit I have ever tasted in a beer, but it was excellently blended with the hops and alcohol to create a great taste. Palate was a bit dry and sour at the same time, and was a great way to finish off this excellent beer. Too bad it is a one-time-only release. dwedin (238), Portland, Oregon, USA

Fresh hop flavor and more aroma is bursting out. So smooth is the bitterness balancing out the background sweetness ending in a perfect finish. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Aug 31, 2006 This was one fine beer! A dark golden appearance. A lemoney perfume aroma. The flavor was heavy on the pine and also included some orange peel. A very well balanced beer with the malt and hops. A bitter and creamy mouthfeel. Overall I was very impressed! jimbowood (959), Athens, Georgia, USA

Crisp and clean w/ piney/grassy hops w/ a hint of citrus. Light malty sweetness w/ a touch of alcohol. Excellent IPA. rajendra82 (704), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 1, 2006 Freak out poured out very clear pale into the pint glass. At least the part that was visible under the four finger thick foamy head was clear. The smell was a laced with spicy and piney hops, and the taste was bone dry making it a hop showcase once again. The only thing attempting to provide a semblance balance was the wispy caramel malt. The mouthfeel was medium to thin, and drinkability was beyond words. All I can say is “Wowie Zowie” after the whole bomber “I’m not satisfied”. beerguy101 (3946), Newark, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 17, 2006 Holy Zappa has it been 40 years since this album came out? This IPA pours a orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is piney and herbal (I’m thinking summit hops here), a touch of sweetness and some orange. A medium to full bodied IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are piney and grapefruity with a touch of tobacco and peppers. Lots of hop flavors without a lot of hop bitterness. I mean it hoppy (it couldn’t be a Lagunitas beer without being hoppy could it?) but the hops are nicely balanced by a lot of malt sweetness. This beer has some weight to it. Nice beer. Cool label. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Does Lagunitas have their own airline yet? npdempse (931), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 12, 2006 Clear amber, with a small but lasting white head. Wonderful, wonderful hoppy nose--pure pine resin and grapefruit and apricots, lain over a touch of malty sweetness. Soft, pillowy mouthfeel--almost like fresh beer off a cask. The flavor is a complete west coast hop freakout indeed--Intensely bitter, almost sour with grapefruit, touches of grass and pine, with a kind of musty, only slightly sweet body lurking below the hops. One dimensional, but it does that dimension right.
