Comments: Quite fruity and very much candied (Jolly Rancher?), malt-oriented, sweet and oily ale with contrasting resinous american hops.

Toasty dark caramel cookie dough aroma has some mild complex butterscotch and piney hoppy presence. Body starts with a toasty sweet caramel maltiness loaded with lots of fresh resiny and grapefruity hops. Very well-balanced and enjoyable and full of bold flavor that hides the abv very well. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 4, 2005 Deep dark brown beer. Sweet malty aroma, a bit of herbal hop aroma, dill, sweet toffee aroma. Flavour is okay, a bit of meaty, salty flavour. Doesn’t do it for me. JPDIPSO (4926), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 19, 2006 Dark amber color with a larger foamy cream colored head. Berries and caramel mix in the pine forest. Sweet caramel and raisins seem to be about the most I get out of the flavor in this one. A mild hops presence and some fruit come in the finish and linger. Seems like just another American strong to me. BückDich (4854), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 7, 2005 Sampled at Oakes’ ’05 Xmas Party Clear auburn color. No head, no lacing. Nose of sweet roasty malts, grassy hops and light yeast. Strong and flavorful but not really pronounced in any one area aside from a Tootsie roll flavor. Ernest (4499), Boulder, Colorado, USA
