Commercial Description:
This Special Ale is, in reality, a reconstructed exhumation of the very first ale that we ever brewed way, way back, in 1993. Brewed with a big head, a muscular malty thorax, a silky texture & all strung together with a hoppy sweet nerve sack... yum. O.G. 1.072 84.2 IBU

Bottle. It lives up to its name. It pours brownish red color with a light off-white head. Aromas of hops, caramel, maybe a tinge of molasses? Medium bodied. A definite bitter edge. Slight alcoholic burn. Pretty decent stuff.

Metallic hop nose with sweet malts. Wet blanket, drying grass. Apricots and pumpkin. Big scotch flavor up front with carmel toasted malts. Piney/floral hops builds to crescendo leading to a sweeter fruity finish. Well crafted red ale, although Im a bigger fan of lucky #13.

My palate made me buy a case of this beautiful red! Slightly sweet roasted malts, piney grapefruit. The balance is fantastic.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Holy hops, Batman, this lives up to the Lagunitas reputation. If I hadn’t known the style, I probably would have guessed IPA or maybe even impy IPA. There is some caramel backing there, and the color is nice, but it mainly smells and tastes like a load of hops - yum!

Bottle served in a tulip. Dark red-orange in color. Big tan head. Nose of prune juice and wheat bread crust. Its malty with hops for balance that show up on the palate and finish. Creamy mouthfeel, medium-full body.

12oz bottle poured a clear light red color with a nice off white head. Aroma of hops, mild sweetness and a touch of roastiness. Flavor was nicley balanced with a smooth hop flavor that mellowed to an array of specialty malts

Pours a medium brown color. Aroma is very floral hops. Initial taste is floral, but that is quickly overtaken by the creamy malt. For such a strong hops aroma, I am quite surprised by the malty finish. well balanced.
