Commercial Description:
This Special Ale is, in reality, a reconstructed exhumation of the very first ale that we ever brewed way, way back, in 1993. Brewed with a big head, a muscular malty thorax, a silky texture & all strung together with a hoppy sweet nerve sack... yum. O.G. 1.072 84.2 IBU

Appearance: Pours a dark red with a head that subsides to nothing. Aroma: Faint toasty caramel malts. Ever so slight Amarillo dry hopping. Taste: Roasted malt and caramel sweetness finished grapefruity and bitter hopping. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Overall: While I was hoping for a larger aroma, the beer didn’t lack in the flavor department. It’s close to Green Flash’s Hop Head Red, minus the danky aroma. I would give this one the nod for balance.

12 oz. bottle. 7.5% ABV. 84.2 IBU. Pours a thick pale beige head of fair duration, with some lacing, over a clear reddish, amber (SRM 17) body....nose redolent of citrus, pine, caramel,....taste initially is incredibly sweet malts, gradually tamed by resin and citrus hops, bitterness lingers.....mouth feel is medium, carbonation medium. American Strong Ales seem routinely be in the big hop, big malt end of the spectrum and don’t use the yeast part of palette to create their nose/tastes. This is a nice beer but really is awfully typical of the named style.

Bottle pours a brownish-red with a smallish white head. Aroma is caramel, pine, and citrus. Flavor is malty, caramel, then the pine and citrus hops show up.

Bottle. Deep reddish-brown color with a medium off-white head. Aroma is sweet bready and caramel malt, citrus/pine hops, and spice. Flavor is malty overall, with caramel malt, some bread, very mild roast, and citrusy/piney hops. Palate medium-full with some oils and lingering bitterness. Fairly good for the style.

Pours a deep brownish red with a small off white head. Aroma is lots of hop oils and resins, malt, caramel. Flavor is the resiny oily hops, malt, caramel, pine. Nice brew.

Sugar daddies, pine and a light bakery smell in the nose. Brown with orange highlights, or are they red? Decent head, a bit spotty. Malty palate, mild resinous mouthfeel. Somewhat neutral finish. Nice beer, nothing spectacular or unusual. I’ve come to expect the unexpected from this brewery.

Bottle shared by Taylor. Pours a slightly reddish brown with a small ring of lace. Nose is floral and piney hops, toasted hops and a mild astringency. Flavor is astringent, hoppy, sweet and slightly burnt. Meh.

Deep, dark ruby, hue with healthy ecru chapeau. Big aroma of sweet grapefruity hops, caramel malt, and spice. Thick flavors of berry preserves (strawberry?), sweet and balanced with the acidity of hop resins. Refreshing finish with juciy hops lingering on the tongue. Redolent of the juicy hop beers the brewery produces. Satisfying and very well built. Try with young Stilton, and sheeps milk cheeses with pate. 92A
