Commercial Description:
Having downed his forth Imperial Stout of theay, the wild eyed charlatan from Voldvostogniaky belched and hollered for the Czarina to enter his chamber and bend herself to his will. The economy was a wreck and revolt was just around the corner. Nicky the Czar dude was off playing soldier like any pale nobleman with a hemorrphagic skin condition would. Such were the final days of the old empire. Reactionary, decadent, sputnik, stroganoff, wierd, and drunk. But even as the proletariat countryside labored under inhuman conditions and a threat of being sent to futile war in the east, they wisely took the time to slam back an Imperial Stout or two. After all, life can be a real "suka", as they say in the old country. Big, black, bourgeois, bolshoy, belligerent, buxom, and scary - this is our version of the chaotic end of an era in a bottle.

On tap everywhere where good crisp and hoppy imperial stouts are available in the PNW. Poured a dark, slippery black body with a reddish tinge and a minuscule white/grey head. Nutty, zesty, smooth, well-articulated brew. Not so roasty as many imp stouts. Mild chocolate and medium-bodied appeal. Mmmm.

Bottle from Capones. I really like this Brewery. Dark mirky brown pour with a thin tan head. Roasted malty vanilla aromas. Smokey odd flavor with chocolate and sweetness. Reminds me of a porter a tad bit. Pretty good.

A pleasant bocky, raisiny, dark chocolate aroma. 22-oz bomber. Dark brown. Thickish mouthfeel, tinny/pasty coffee finish with some off flavors. I was disappointed in the flavor - while decent, it isn’t outstanding. Grassy cocoa, almost like a dark American Brown, roasty. Not sweet. Market Square Liquors. Given the new spate of huge new imperial stouts, this older recipe one has been eclipsed.

Nice smooth aroma of chocolate and roasted coffee, slight alcohol. The appearance is a dark brown, but somewhat translucent. A little thin for a stout. Taste is similar, more roasted and less sweet than I expected. The palate is bitter, a little sour. Decent stout.

Bottle from Westpark Wine and Beer in West End Richmond. Pours dark bronzeish brown with nearly no head. Aroma is strong raisin and other dried fruits. Taste is similar with some bitterness to go along. Very simple, but drinkable and nice.

A bit of a disappointment as far as imperial stouts go. Poured a thin brown color with a thin tan head which was moderately carbonated. A sweet aroma with hints of coffee. Flavor had a stronger roasted coffee note but was till overall mild. Thin body and mouth feel throughout.

Dark colored, but not black, with reddish highlights and a quickly diminishing head with little lacing. Flavor is intense coffee, toasted grain, and not much else. Palate is nice, but not as intense as some IS’s, but still very good. Sweet, sticky, boozy, some watery notes, carbonated, nutty, hoppy with coffee beans. Not bad.

22 oz bottle from J&M. A little thin for a imperial stout but very drinkable. Not the best ive had but not bad.
