Commercial Description:
Having downed his forth Imperial Stout of theay, the wild eyed charlatan from Voldvostogniaky belched and hollered for the Czarina to enter his chamber and bend herself to his will. The economy was a wreck and revolt was just around the corner. Nicky the Czar dude was off playing soldier like any pale nobleman with a hemorrphagic skin condition would. Such were the final days of the old empire. Reactionary, decadent, sputnik, stroganoff, wierd, and drunk. But even as the proletariat countryside labored under inhuman conditions and a threat of being sent to futile war in the east, they wisely took the time to slam back an Imperial Stout or two. After all, life can be a real "suka", as they say in the old country. Big, black, bourgeois, bolshoy, belligerent, buxom, and scary - this is our version of the chaotic end of an era in a bottle.

Bottle. Very dark brown body, small tan head, sweet mocha nose with fruity estery notes. Fairly light body for the style with sweet roasty notes and fruit.

Since my first rating was lame, I figured the best thing to do was to axe it. This brew is better than one might expect, given it’s style percentage. It’s readily available, and it has a deep malty taste. Flavors of chocolate, caramel, and coffee.

Tastes more like a special edition from a macro than a specialty macro. This beer reminded of Guinness however more expensive. Large head and good color that’s what stood out most.

Bomber. Pours very light (for an Imperial). A brown cola color with a light tan head. Aroma is mild chocolate, slight roast, chalkiness. Smells like a porter. This would be a good smell if it were a porter but for an Imperial Stout it is very, very weak. As it gets warmer a little bit more intense milk chocolate aroma comes out but it’s still not that good. Taste is watery, slight chocolate, and that’s it. Very disappointing. Certainly the one of the worst examples I’ve had in the style.

Pours a very dark brown with red highlights, but not the black one expects from a stout, especially an imperial stout. Small tan head leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is black malt and green apples (acetylaldehyde). Flavor is sweet dark malt, without the warmth one would expect from a beer of 8%. Body is medium but the beer goes down very smooth and creamy. Tail is all black malt and chocolate.

Pours a deep garnet with a small mocha-colored head. Aroma of roasted grains, chocolate, and alcohol. Flavor is bold, with bitter coffee, more chocolate, roasted malts and little hoppiness. Alcohol is not all that noticeable. Finishes bittersweet and dry. Tasty stuff.

Aged a bit, at Volo. Black with a moderate head and significant lacing. Malty medium roasty,a bit of burnt sugar, nutty. Coffee aftertaste. On the sweeter side. Good drinking, have had it again a couple of times.
