Pours a clear dark brown with ruby highlights and a small but lasting tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of licorice and roasted malt. Taste is coffee, licorice, and roasted malt. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness. A little thin for an Imperial Stout but still very good. Palidor19 (1785), Brandon, Florida, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Nov 13, 2007 The aroma is chocolaty, coffee like, with malt toasted darkly. The appearance is dark brown with a tan head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. I really like this. golubj (1290), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 10, 2007 Bottle. Aroma of some fruit and a little bit of smoked malt. The mouthfeel is a little more carbonated than it should be with a cola like aspect to it. The roasted malt lingers a bit in this one. Below average for the style. malrubius (1002), Valley Stream, New York, USA

Deep dark brown but not quite black with lasting tan ring and some lace. Mild aroma with some hop, some chocolate, and very slight alcohol. Burnt coffee and ripe plum flavor with mild hop finish. Medium body and carbonation. Not very impressive. lacks fullness and richness of the best imperial stouts. redlight (1490), Winter Park, Florida, USA

Pours brown, not at all that dark for an imperial stout. It was roasty and chocolatey, very light and dangerously easy to drink for an imperial stout. not bad, but if i want an imperial stout, i’ll go for old rasputin or yeti! | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 2, 2007 Not opaque, shows a garnet in the light. Smallish head, leaving no lacing at all, the glass looks virtually clean as I work my way through it. Aroma is primarily chocolatey, with a mild roast note. There is perhaps a vague fruitiness in the background. Flavor similar, only slightly sweet, slightly chewy with a long dry roasted finish. Mild astringency. Pepperiness in the throat reveals some of the alcohol in this but otherwise it tastes like an oatmeal stout to me. Boliv (197), New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 1, 2007 Bomber. Poured deep reddish/brown with little head, much lighter than expected for an impy. Sweet malty aroma with chocolate and coffee. Flavor is an initial malty rush followed by creamy chocolate, and finishing with a slight espresso kick and a tingling sour tang on the palate. Very smooth. A good beer, just a little weaker than what I expect from an imperial stout.
