Commercial Description:
Having downed his forth Imperial Stout of theay, the wild eyed charlatan from Voldvostogniaky belched and hollered for the Czarina to enter his chamber and bend herself to his will. The economy was a wreck and revolt was just around the corner. Nicky the Czar dude was off playing soldier like any pale nobleman with a hemorrphagic skin condition would. Such were the final days of the old empire. Reactionary, decadent, sputnik, stroganoff, wierd, and drunk. But even as the proletariat countryside labored under inhuman conditions and a threat of being sent to futile war in the east, they wisely took the time to slam back an Imperial Stout or two. After all, life can be a real "suka", as they say in the old country. Big, black, bourgeois, bolshoy, belligerent, buxom, and scary - this is our version of the chaotic end of an era in a bottle.

22 oz bottle. Very dark brown beer with light brown head. Aroma is quite sweet and chocolatey, caramel, a bit of roast, but not as much as I would have expected. Lightly earthy with a strong peppery aroma behind it all. Flavour is sweet with chicory/coffee character as well as sweet milk chocolate. Moderate bitterness on the back. Light leather comes out as it warms. Not really an imperial stout, more of an alcoholic porter. Comes across a bit schitzophrenic.

Bottle. Coffee colored, not totally black, with a beige colored head. Nose of roasty malts, almond, banana, anise. Flavor is pretty one dimensional, nutty, dry, some burnt maltiness. Very little coffee and chocolate. I would never call this an imperial stout, just a stout. Alcohol is apparent. I feel let down.

Pitch black average sized almond head. Yu can smell the alcohol and hops in the aroma bigtime even at only 8.2%. The flavor is much of the same too much bitterness in this and not enough flavor. Very bittersweet chocolate taste with the hops just controlling the beer the whole time. Thin mouthfeel and not much going on here, wasn’t impressed. Just because it’s an imperial stout doesn’t mean it should be rated higher.

22 oz bomber. Pours a black cola color with a thick beige head. Aroma is of light roasted malt and oats. Taste is malty rich with chocolate overtones and hints of oats. Wouldnt really call this one an imperial stout. Weak flavor overall for an imperial stout.

Blind Tasting. Dark brown/black with small creamy head. Really light toasted malt aroma. Very smooth stout, good sweetness with some chocolate taste. Not overwhelming, just solid.

Shit, I just rated this and the freaking page did not load correctly. Anyway, tastes of a moderate oak/smoke, coffee, and hops. Has a decent bitterness to the brew, but the beer itself is nothing overwhelming. Seems more like a regular stout considering how thin the malt profile is compared to a lot of Impy Stouts. Not a bad beer, but not a truly great one either.

Poured a clear and very dark brown with a small light tan head. The aroma is not complex. Roasty with some sweetness. The flavor was sweet with a lightly roasted malt. Mild bitterness on the finish. Light to medium body.
